My 80-year-old mom and I stayed at the Sydney House Hotel for 5 nights and would do it again in a heartbeat. The proprietor and his staff were wonderful and very accomodating. The service was excelllent and comprehensive , the room a good size double with all facilities and en suite,shower powerful and constant temp, room quiet despite overlooking a busy road junction. I don't know the last time I had an English single room that I would call bright and cheerful. This one was (which made up for its small size). Decent location, about 7 minutes walk from the railway station; breakfast was very good; and the staff extremely pleasant and helpful. The Sydney House Hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the town centre not far from the Welsh bridge. The owners are very friendly and the room was £35 a night which includes breakfast. The room was very small but fine for one person. There are no evening meals served but are plenty of places to eat within walking... more
