If you don't mind the walk up the hill to the castle this hotel is just a few minutes from the market place and the centre of Ludlow. It was subject to major works but the signs are it will look good on completion. Breakfast was very good and the room was fine. The staff were all very friendly and... More

The hotel that all but the most recent reviewers have discussed has changed. The old version was clearly beloved by many, and the new version is a different entity. It is now stylish and more contemporary, but it no longer possesses the well worn charm of an English country hotel. I booked for four days based on the reviews of... More

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the above. Despite the car park being re-tarmaced we had an enjoyable stay. The hotel, which has recently been refurbished to a high standard, is just a very pleasant 10 minutes walk from Ludlow with stunning views of the castle on the way. The rooms were of a high standard... More

We have just called in for a meal having heard the new restaurant was now open. We arrived to find this tired and frankly grubby hotel in its latter days to have been totally transformed! A sympathetic and skilful conversion job has been carried out by a couple well versed in the art of providing good food, accommodation and hospitality.... More

Haven't stayed at the hotel so can't comment on that but have eaten here before when it was a good ' cheap and cheerful' place. The new owners have transformed it into a contemporary 'restaurant with rooms' which oozes style and quality, not just the decor but also the food. It's great to have another top quality restaurant in Ludlow... More

We were told about the renovations about a week before we stayed so did not know what to expect. On arrival, we were very surprised at the extent of the renovations and the lack of parking space. However we went inside and eventually found a receptionist who showed us to our room. Despite all the dust and lack of facilities... More

This hotel is in a fantastic location. Set amongst woods and countryside but only a very short walk into Ludlow town centre. The room was ok with great views of Ludlow Castle and the surrounding countryside. It did lack some of the extras that other hotels have, e.g. hospitality tray was a bit sparse, no tissues until the last day,... More

Booked an overnight stay some months ago whilst en route to Snowdonia. We were advised about a week before our planned stay that the hotel had changed hands and was undergoing some renovation work which was running late, and we were offered a small discount as there would be no restaurant or bar facility. As it was short notice and... More

Lovely hotel, undergoing extensive renovations to the property, which was running a month behind time. Discounts offered by email before we left Australia, so it was a nice gesture as their restaurant and bar could not be accessed. Beds a bit tough on our backs but we are nearly 60 so it may be okay for others. Shower has no... More

We decide to do a last minute overnight stay at one of my fave places Ludlow. Late rooms showed that a room was free here at the Cliffe...The Hotel has just been taken over and is under refurbishment, but one of the staff e mailed us to explain all this, but as it is so local to the town and...
