We stayed here for two nights. We had a double room and a sofa bed for our two young children. The decor of the room was dated but the en suite had been modernised. The breakfast and service was excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. The restaurant and bar areas had recently been built/refurbished and were very... More

We stayed here returning from our holiday as we wanted to visit Ludlow. We took the cottage. Rooms fine, one quite small, children ended up having the bigger one as both made as doubles.... The Architecture in unprepossessing but the rooms have been done up in a minimalist tasteful style. What we really enjoyed was the food, Much better than... More

We stayed on the 16th August 2014. An excellent room on the second floor with views of the castle. It is only a 10 minute walk from the castle entrance, lovely rural location and very peaceful. The staff are friendly and efficient and the newly refurbished reception, dining and breakfast rooms are very smart (love the green colour on the... More

A very friendly family run hotel. Every member of staff was very helpful. Comfortable bar and dining area and excellent value for money all round with breakfast as part of the stay. Lattes are delicious. An innovative and delicious dinner menu, including slow cooked lamb, pea soup and cannelloni.

Popped in here for drinks only, so can't talk to the food or accommodation but the beer was well kept and the place looks really smart now (definitely changed a lot since my last visit in the 1980s (!). Based on what I saw and tasted I'd be tempted to go back again ... And of course it's easy to... More

It's lost all it's comfyness since the renovations. Rooms were OK. Breakfast was OK. But the bar area was sparse, and the seating looked good, but you wouldn't want to sit on the chairs for too long as they were so uncomfortable. For a restaurant, I guess the bar area was OK, but for those of us staying over, we... More

A very smart refurb which was overdue. The old place was like your favourite gardening jacket. Loved but passed its' best. The new menu is sadly a mirror copy of the locality...read into that what you will. Portions are reasonable and presentation good. Those we spoke to were happy with their accomodation. Shame the Hobson's Best has gone. It was... More

If you don't mind the walk up the hill to the castle this hotel is just a few minutes from the market place and the centre of Ludlow. It was subject to major works but the signs are it will look good on completion. Breakfast was very good and the room was fine. The staff were all very friendly and... More

The hotel that all but the most recent reviewers have discussed has changed. The old version was clearly beloved by many, and the new version is a different entity. It is now stylish and more contemporary, but it no longer possesses the well worn charm of an English country hotel. I booked for four days based on the reviews of... More

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the above. Despite the car park being re-tarmaced we had an enjoyable stay. The hotel, which has recently been refurbished to a high standard, is just a very pleasant 10 minutes walk from Ludlow with stunning views of the castle on the way. The rooms were of a high standard... More
