We went to Ironbridge on a whim this bank holiday without booking anywhere to stay - all fully booked we tried the Golden Ball Inn last and they had a room. We are very glad they had! The accommodation was lovely and cosy a Fab Four poster with a huge duvet and a huge bathroom! Everything you'd need for a... More

Always a good option to stop off at the Golden ball for lunch or dinner on the way home. Great range of food and beers. Service is always fantastic. Nice surrounding area. In the spring/ summer you can sit out in the beer garden. You can't go wrong.

A group of four, we booked a deal for four for lunch today. We all chose main course and sweet. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted with a friendly smile and shown to our table. We had a glass of Prosseco and then chose our main course. Two chose the duck breast with plum and ginger. Cooked to... More

A very large room with a kitchenette and an excellent olde pub. Excellent value for money. Good tv in the room with a sofa and a good armchair, tea, coffee and a cooker. Well worth staying here. Pub built in 1728.

I stayed at the Golden Ball for a night before attending a conference in Telford. I always prefer to stay in a pub if possible rather than a standard travel hotel - at least you know the hotel bar is going to be good and it personalises an otherwise anodyne trip. I booked the Golden Ball on the basis of... More

I went for the fish cakes they were so disappointing could hardly taste the fish perhaps I chose the wrong meal as my husband had a pork steak covered in stilton sauce which he said was verg good. But could hardly tell our friends to go there with only one cause ok. Margaret

We have just spent two very enjoyable days staying in the Paradise room at this establishment. The pub is a very old inn (1728!) so don't expect the modern sleek lines of a hotel chain but this place is full of character. Generally when we travel for pleasure we try and stay away from the chain establishments and seek out... More

I've drank in the golden ball over the years always been good beer and atmosphere but never eaten there until now. Was looking on here for a well reviewed restaurant probably like you are now and at first wanted to book the Shakespeare in Coalport but was fully booked so we rang the ball and they managed to fit us... We have just returned from a weekend stay at the Golden Ball, the staff were very welcoming and the service was good. As the weather was sunny we were able to take advantage of eating outside as well as in the dining area, and I can thoroughly recommend the food : ) We will definitely be planning a return trip.

Booked to stay for 2 nights B&B at £65 per night for 2 which we thought was good value. The pub is 1700's & has nooks & crannies, low ceilings, beams & steep winding stair case. The staff were very helpful & friendly & the food was good. Our bedroom was a double 4 poster in a good sized room,... More
