We booked this hotel at the last minute as we were going to a concert in Sheffield but didn't want to pay the ever increasing prices of the usual hotels. The Psalter is about 2 miles outside of the city centre but easily accessible and has a private car park at the rear which is free. It is on a... More

Because we only paid £50 for a double room, including breakfast, I am basing this review on reasonable expectations for that price. The downstairs bar area was pretty nice and had a nice atmosphere. The check in was simple and efficient. As soon as you head upstairs you notice an immediate difference. Dated corridors and scuffed paintwork give it an... More

I stayed here for 2 nights while attending a work event in Sheffield. The manager was welcoming and the room was better than what I expected for the price. It was warm and clean and the breakfast was lovely. Luckily I am a heavy sleeper so the noise from the pub didn't bother me too much. I was given a... More

To be fair, the breakfast was OK but the room was terrible. The beds were reasonably comfortable. We arrived, had to pay (£60) up front before seeing the room (probably not a good sign!) and then found when we got in that there was no light bulb in the bathroom, and the carpet had not been hoovered since the previous... We lived in Sheffiekd for 15 years, know the city very well. We booked this hotel as we were visiting my mother in laws house and wanted to stay near, away from the city centre. The pictures looked all right but we were in for a shock when we were given the keys to our room. The bedroom was cramped,... More

Breakfast service 10 out of 10. Room tidy but a bit gruppy and in my opinion could have done with a good clean. Dirty light switches, skirting boards and windows. Steep stairs no lift. Limited number of car parking spaces.

We stayed for one night in August. V close to city centre and uni which was ideal. Beer was v good, staff friendly and good ok. The rooms were average. My advice would be to ask for a room at the back if you like peace and quiet. We had some late stayers drinking right under our bedroom window :-(

We revisited the Psalter formally Rosalyn Court to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. We had our wedding reception here. We had read the mixed reviews on Trip Advisor and wished we paid heed. Our initial room was terrible, wall paper peeling, dirty old bathroom suite, TV not working etc... The girl on reception kindly changed it. The second room was... More

Where to begin. Upon arrival I was greeted by a warm smile. Travelling alone I found the staff welcoming and very helpful. The beer, food and hotel were great. I had a fantastic nights sleep. Would recommend to anyone!

This is a very welcoming bar/hotel, I travelled with my husband and 2 children, On arrival we was greated by happy smiley staff. Bar and resturant area was very clean and tidy. Staff told me on arrival there had been a small problem in the room and for that we had a discount off the room (very happy), Staff showed... More
