Can't understand the negative comments about The Psalter. If you want five star hotels, go and pay for five star! Rooms are clean enough, although a little TLC is needed in places. Stayed just for the one evening with family (2 adults, three teenagers) in two rooms. Rooms more than adequate, and very spacious. Had evening meal on the Saturday... More

Spent two days with our Daughter who is studying in Sheffield. This was an excellent location as our Daughter lives just around the corner. The room was adequate for one night and the breakfast was very good.

Stayed 2nights. Room smelt of beer (it's the only thing I can think it could be), the window was drafty and the curtains moved about from the draft. The room was cold and the pub only had one storage heater which was in use by another room. Also a substantial amount of mildue in the bathroom. Sufficient for a one... More

Went here to celebrate a friends 60th birthday. A really nice clean hotel, comfortable bed , comfortable room and good shower. The breakfast was well presented by friendly waitress and of a very good quality. The bar, at night, was crowded, but service was prompt and the atmosphere in the bar was good. Recommended for a reasonably priced overnight stay... More

We stayed for 2 nights. We did not get the room we booked, we did not get the advertised discount. The room was small, and a bit grotty. The bathroom was terrible, truly awful, mold and mildew everywhere. We have complained, but have not received any form of response after more than a week. Don't go!

I stayed here on business back in January and was pleasantly surprised! We booked two rooms and arrived at 8pm on a Thursday Night. The pub was quite busy showing sport & serving food, Tom the manager came to check us in straight away & showed us to the rooms. The rooms were spacious & comfy. We ate in the... More

Had a single room for a few nights during a cold snap recently. The room was very basic, dull 1970's style wallpaper. The bath had mouldy grouting around it and the room steamed up very easily. The drab curtains masked the window whose casement window didn't shut properly. Having the window open took away some of the stuffiness of the... More

I recently spent a couple of nights here in a single room and was pleased because it was clean , friendly and hospitable. Had a couple of nights' good sleep and a tasty breakfast- what more could I ask for? I wanted a simple clean safe place without spending the earth and that's what I got - simples

Psalter, not said P-salter but phonetically pronounced just salter, absolutely amazing!!?? Decent beers and that, good pizzas, rooms not bad and reasonably priced. Also you can get in at about 2 in the morning when completely smashed on 'the wise mans Sheffield evening' as it's known round our way - a heady cocktail of ale, lager, jagers, wine, Bombay saff...
