I stayed here for a course just for one night and my car broke down. The staff were amazing and did everything they could to try and get it started even though it was early morning! They made me feel welcome while I was waiting for my breakdown. I've stayed in a lot of b&bs recently and wouldn't have got... More

I'd like to give The Psalter a higher score but the state of the dated décor in the accommodation part of the hotel lets it down. The public areas are fine but upstairs needs a lot of money spending on it to bring it up to standard. That said for the money (£30 + £5 for a cooked breakfast) it... More

We arranged to visit friends who had recently moved to the area from Bridlington. Our friends decided to go to this pub as it was near thier new place, we found out it to be a huge mistake. The place was empty at 1pm on a Sunday just the four of us plus another family with small children, there is... More

Having an appointment early and on comparative short notice at Royal Hallamshire hospital, we needed somewhere to stay in the area. We found the Psalter, and a lucky find it was too. Psalter describes itself as “a pub with rooms”, and it does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a good comfy, clean place to stay over a... More

We had a fantastic stay here, it's a welcoming hotel with a nice bar and good food, stayed for one night as it was local to friends we visited and priced very well. We would definitely stay again the next time we visit

I booked the Psalter for hen do without ever having ever visited so there was a risk! HOWEVER they were fabulous! It had just changed hands so we joined them at a transition period but this did not stop them making my night the best. They contacted me with a suggested menu which suited the evening wonderfully. Nothing was a... More

Thank you for the feedback regarding your stay in June, 2014. Since then, the hotel has changed management and in February we implemented a new, more seasonal menu. We also have Sky and free Wifi available in the rooms, to make our customers stay more enjoyable. Once again, thank you for your feedback. More

stayed for one night last week. We paid for a standard room, but then got upgraded to a four poster😊 the room was warm and clean and we enjoyed the breakfast. Friendly staff too. We didn't eat on the pub at night because we were going out for a meal in the city centre.

I recently visited the Psalter with my wife as we were on a trip to see family! I must say I was surprised with how good the place was. The inside was clean and welcoming, the beer was good, being an ale drinker was nice to see a good selection of real ale on the pumps. The rooms were comfortable... More
