We booked this hotel by phone and we agreed with the owner ( Sue) to arrive between 2 and 3 in the afternoon as we live around 4 hours away from Sheffield, then 1 hour before we were due to arrive at the hotel we had a call on our mobile from Sue saying no one would be there to... more

Stayed at the Westbourne for one night- needed somewhere near the Botanic Gardens area for the two of us. When we arrived , we rang the bell and waited & rang again and waiting eventually the owner ( Nick) let us in and showed us to our room.Up the stairs then through a door and up a very narrow flight... more

We arrived for a four day stay on a wet, damp night in September and were greeted with tea and coffe in the lounge. Fantastic and made us feel all warm and comfy. Then shown to our room, which was so cosy and very nicely decorated. The bedside lights were on which made the room look warm and welcoming. Next... more

My Spanish girlfriend had just arrived in the UK, and I had been invited to a friend's wedding in Sheffield. I thought this was a great opportunity to splash out a little and book somewhere fancy. The West Bourne was in the Michelin Guide and it looked really good on the web site. On the phone the co-owner Sue was... more

Dont stay here if you have no where to leave your bags. After having paid £300 for 6 of us including £75 for a single occupancy, the owner told us that bag storage was "not their problem" The Westbourne House Hotel was "a B&B and not an expensive hotel" and we had "recieved the service that we had paid for"... more

We didnt read the other reviews till the night before we stayed here.We booked it with 3 friends because of its location near Eccleshall Rd as we were meeting up with some local friends there. When we arrived at about 4pm to book in the main door was firmly shut & it looked like no one was home. We waited abt... more

I was booked into this hotel by friends of mine who live in Sheffield that I was visiting for the weekend. I saw the other reviews before I went and was concerned but due to the location I decided to stick with the booking and I have to say I completely disagree with the other reviewers. I received a warm... more

I've travelled to Sheffield a number of times and only ever stayed in the larger, chain hotels. Unfortunately on my last visit I had real problems booking into any of my usual haunts, and ended up at the Westbourne. I have to say that I'd normally avoid a small, privately owned hotel but after enjoying Sue and Nick's hospitality I'll... more

Our experience was pretty much the same as the previous three! While the room was pleasant enough, it certainly wasn't worth the price you pay. We stayed five nights and were given one tiny bar of soap to last the whole time we were there. The food was average (below average if you are a vegetarian). Nick was pleasant, though... more
