I stayed here for one nights business travel this week, I was attaracted by the website which showed a beautiful " standard" double bedroom, HUH!! What I got ( in a poorly occupied hotel so no excuse) was a very grim depressing groundfloor room, with old wooden windows with failed double glazing units in, grotty furniture, poor decoration, holes in the... more

We stayed 2 nights at The Beauchief for a family wedding. Our room (119) was generally OK with 2 double beds for my husband, myself and 5-yr-old daughter. The bathroom was very dated with cracked tiles and 70s-style fittings. Despite being a threesome we were only given 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels and one bar of soap! Lucky... more

Hotel was fusty and old school - felt a bit like an old age home or something from the 80s before Britain worked out how to do good hotels and food. Restaurant was practically empty on a weekend night, waiters seemed nice but really couldn't be bothered. Food also a bit 80s and overcooked. Is a lovely building though, feels... more

Have used this hotel for many years. It's position and setting is perfect in every way. Previoys (corporate) owners couldn't care a damn and it showed. New owners are making every effort to make it the first choice again. Old, useless staff have gone and new ones are properly trained - nothing too much trouble. Some visitors don't deserve such... more

Everything about this hotel seemed average. The rooms were starting to look old fashioned, and could have done with a bit of redecorating, but overall fairly average non-descript hotel room. The breakfast buffet had the usual fare of cereal, yoghurt and pastries, but again, the standard was average. Cooked food was good, but the coffee was poor and the service... more

We stayed for three nights. The location is really convenient and allowed us to visit relatives and visit the peak district quite easily (by car). The rooms are comfortable and clean but there were quite a few irritations: 1) room was too warm though radiators were off and we needed to keep windows open through the night ; 2) the... more

Stayed here over a weekend, visiting friends in Sheffield. The room was quiet and away from the restaurant & function area (room 225). The room itself was excellently cleaned but the fixtures & fittings of the room, and the hotel in general, show signs of wear. The carpet is thready in places and the decor is a bit dated. I... more

Stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip. Stayed in the "old" part of the hotel. The room was on the third floor & very large and nicely decorated. Very clean and well maintained. Only slight downside is it faced thebusy junction outside and traffic noise could disturb a light sleeper in the front rooms. The checkin guy was... more

Our adult family of four chose the Beauchief mainly for its location. We have stayed here in the past, but some 8 years ago. After reading the recent reports I was anxious to say the least prior to our visit. Communication with the hotel prior to our 2 night stay was ‘difficult’ with language differences and I had to follow... more

I stayed at the Beauchief for two nights, on a business trip. The location of the hotel is pretty, but it's about 15 minutes outside of sheffield city centre in a taxi. Check in was quick and easy, and I got a room on the 2nd floor. One issue is they didn't appear to have a lift (or I was... more
