I have read one review which descibes this hotel as a hotel in a multi storey car park. That sums it up. The car park was cleaner tho so they were being a little unfair on car parks. It really was a dive. Great for younsters who just need a bed but thats it! We dare not have the food... more

The memories! We had a great time at the Grosvenor Hotel back in the summer of 2005! At what other hotel can you have the whole dinning room to yourself? Within staggering distance from Gatecrasher and Debenhams - Be careful not to get lost in Debenhams - its huge! Sheffield does have more than one street and a really good... more

Just had a night at the Grosvenor for a hen do. Perfect location for the city centre clubs and bars. As has already been said by previous reveiwers it is a very dated, basic hotel. The communal areas are very shabby but our twin room and ensuite were clean enough for what we needed. Reception staff were very abrupt but... more

What can I say about the Grosvenor Hotel that hasn't already been said? I'll be honest - someties you read these reviews and think people just like a good old moan and it can't be that bad... but in this case they were right. The hotel is a joke. The hotel is part of the 'Corus' chain which can be... more

Block of flats, shabby, elevator frightening.. that's the first impression and it gets worse once you stay there. Thankfully it was 1 night but the omens were bad when we saw people complaining whilst we checked in - not sure what about but it could be a multitude of things really. Anyway firstly it really is a dump and it... more

The website was very misleading and I was very disappointed when I arrived. I have stayed in some hostels that were miles better than this hotel. The rooms are ok, could do with double glazing to drown out the noise from the bar across the square and some nicer linen on the beds. What I objected to most was the... more

I have stayed at the Grosvenor a number of times, usually with groups of friends on a night out/ weekend in Sheffield. It may be some concrete-jungle throwback, but it suits a purpose and the whole retro-shabby-towerblock-thing is quite endearing if you have sense of humour about it. Its main selling point is its location which is smack-bang within the... more

If you're looking for luxury, look elsewhere, but in terms of value for money it's hard to beat. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and staff are polite and efficient. Excellent location - right in the city centre with free covered parking. Reception area, breakfast room and bar are all very spacious and you get the feeling this was once a... more

I booked this hotel and then saw some of the reviews so I was expecting a truly horrible few nights. I totally agree that in places this hotel is tired and needs a revamp, reception area for example. The car park is very dreary and offputting as well. Almost impossible to find, shame on you Sheffield City Council, get some... more

We took the chance of booking the Grosvenor House for one night due to its central location and free parking facility. But sadly, off-putting reviews proved accurate. One-way systems and roadworks made finding the hotel difficult. Once located, first impressions made us wonder what we we'd let ourselves in for. We avoided parking next to a very dusty car (various... more
