I find it astonishing that there are positive reviews about this place because my stay there was the just plain rubbish! The receptionist was rude and seemed to detest the fact that she was there to welcome me. Never once did she actually look at me. Woe unto me when I could not open my room door and had to... more

It´s true this was my worst expirience with european Hotels ever. The bathroom was horrible because everthing in there was really used up. During Breakfasr they started using the vacuum cleaner in the breakfast room. The stuff was not freindly at all exept one waitress. The Floor carpet was full of spots in my and my colleges room. First and... more

we booked the 1 night stay with superbreak and it was a great price for what we got ! the good points it has free car parking, bright reception, small bar , small breakfast room huge breakfast !!!!!! , very funky modern rooms which i have not seen done in this style anywhere else-loved the amber lights around the window,... more

We stayed at the Rutland Hotel for 3 nights whilst attending a wedding. We arrived at around midnight to find that our room had not been equipped with a cot and the sofa bed had not been made up. This was despite booking a family room with a cot and bed for a child and confirming direct with the hotel... more

All the rooms in the hotel have been refurbished now. My parents stayed in the Hurlstone Suite (lovely!) and our room was also very modern and funky. The reception area is more traditional but still fresh. Bar area really nice with candles on at night. Reasonable prices in bar for food and drinks. Very friendly staff. I think some review... more

I frequently stay in hotels in this price range on business travel, so I am used to online price reductions bagging the basic level rooms availabe in a hotel..... BUT This didn't measure up to a much lower rating - and the hotels own webpage price of £90 would be a joke for the accomodation on offer. Given that the... more

I didn't recognise the place from the descriptions in the reviews on here! I can only assume that the other reviewers had been staying in unrenovated rooms. The one we had (62) was modern, stylish and well appointed. And yes, it's a little bit of a walk from reception and downstairs, but it's an old, rambling building so what do... more

I have just returned from a visit to Sheffield , I booked this hotel not knowing about this web site , When i arrived i was given the keys to room 50, i had to walk quite a way , down some stairs to what looked like the basement, When i walked into the room the smell was really bad... more

I too wished I had read the reviews of this hotel before staying here, fortunately I was only staying the one night. The reception staff were friendly and courteous, though on reflection i think they were just being apologetic as they knew what the rooms are like (appaling). Breakfast is a joke, poor service and chaotic. I only wanted poached... more

I stopped here for my graduation with my parents, as did a friend of mine and his parents. They got a gorgeous room with lovely decor and furniture. I got one of the 'standard' rooms which wouldn't be out of place in a 1960s hostel. The decor is drab, the floorboards creak like mad, the shower probably hasn't been replaced... more
