I'll start with bad points and end with on a positive note with the good. Bad - rooms - size adequate for single travellers on short stays but if staying for longer periods or more than one guest with a minimum of one suitcase the room has very limited storage so will become cluttered. There is nowhere to store a... more

First time for this hotel and it was a welcome change from the Hilton Sheffield. Bright, spacious areas and a good bar. Room was large and with nice decor. I found the staff particularly helpful and attentive but unfortunately the lack of parking there lets the place down, For a city centre hotel, having to use public car parks is... more

Having stayed at Brittania's before I wasn't expecting much. But this hotel is, supposedly, one of a few to have been done out. It's based right in the centre of Sheffield, overlooking the peace gardens. Our room was spacious with a Queen-size double bed, pull out double sofa bed, LCD TV and minibar. The bathroom was big enough and had... more

We booked this hotel because of its location as we had tickets to see a show at the Lyceum just a few minutes walk away. Everything about the hotel was excellent: early check in, clean well appointed room, very helpful staff, excellent breakfast, on site car parking. It is a large modern hotel but the staff are efficient and friendly... more

After my wife got food poisoning from either the scallops or rice in the restaurant there was no reply to my email reporting this to the hotel manager. Apology was not expected due to the spurious nature of food complaints but as a serious public health issue i would have expected a reply asking for particulars of the samples taken... more

My boyfriend and I had stayed at this hotel before and had always found it quite hit and miss, however out last stay there was awful. While the location cannot be faulted, the cleanliness of the hotel was where things really fell apart and tainted the whole experience for us. When we got to our room we were pleased that... more

Great location for city centre. Just a short -- albeit straight uphill -- scenic walk from the train station on a footpath. The hotel appeared to be at the end of a face lift, and although several rooms were being worked on during the day while we were there, we never heard workers from our room There's also a building... more

I recently stayed at this hotel for a night, and thought it was pretty good compared to ones I have stayed in before when travelling to Sheffield. It is being refurbished, so would ask for a room that is away from any work being done - I got a really good rate off lastminute.com, but ended up on a floor... more

I had the pleasure of staying at the Novotel for 5 weeks from July to August 2008. I could not fault the service of all the staff and the comfort of the various rooms I stayed in. All the rooms were comfortable with lovely bathrooms and very luxurious beds. They nearly all had a seperate lavatory and a sofa and... more

This can not be a 4 star hotel. I will not stay here or any other Novotel again. I booked 3 nights for myself and 2 children. The room was small and cramped for a family of 3. The pool and changing rooms were dirty. The lockers in the changing rooms didnt lock. The hairdryer in our room didnt work... more
