Visited the Strines Inn with my partner and both our families this weekend. We sat outside in the sunshine with the beautiful surroundings! Never know a pub to have such a stunning view surrounded by little lambs and the sound of peacocks. We all had a main meal, I had the beef in the large yorkshire pudding which was perfect.... More

First discovered this place 15 years ago with fellow walkers & always loved it. Have been back on many occasions since. We stayed over for the first time on our last visit 2 weeks ago with our dog. The sun was shining so on our arrival we dumped our bags & off we went. Came back with a huge appetite,... More

Great little country inn in middle of moorland with a great beer garden giving nice views and they also had a play area for the kids. We chose all our meals from the specials menu and each was home cooked and delicious. Service was great and the staff were very welcoming.

Lovely very old English pub in a great location with beautiful views. On a very old day we enjoyed a beautiful hot chocolate. Friendlyvservice .......always good when a pub is full of the locals. Didn't try the food but it looked good and the menu was very varied.

I worked here throughout the 80's (My mother was the 'cook') when the restaurant upstairs served the most stunning carveries, Sunday lunch buffets upstairs, then moved downstairs for all the walkers and dog owners. Long nights by the real fires with the 'locals' who actually drove miles to be there. Decided to take mum back for lunch one Sunday recently,... More

Having first visited in the late 80's and 90's and then stayed there in 2003 - i read with interest all the feedback from other visitors. as usual it is all down to expectations. If you are looking for boutique style, elegant service, classic yet modern dishes in a contemporary setting, then you will be disappointed. IF however you want... More

We called here after a long walk on winter's day. It was around 3.30pm, so we were not too surprised that they had stopped serving food - a common British phenomenon. Unfortunately the pub suffered from another feature rarely if ever encountered in bars/restaurants in Europe - unpleasant grubby toilets. What visitors from the Continent must think of standards here... More

I feel that this pub could be brilliant if there was something about it that people would flock to it for, such as improving the food. The only reason why people visit it, is because its old, situated in beautiful countryside and has a lovely fire place and is cosy in winter, but it frustrates me that it could be... More

Found this pub through the GBG and an excellent find although very busy the staff gave you all the attention. We had a lovely meal steak ale pie, the ales were kept in good condition. All age groups were there along with lots of four legged friends

So many places these days are difficult with dogs - and coming here makes you realise just how small minded that is. Food is good - not gourmet - but wholesome and well made. Service is very attentive and the range of ales reasonable. Would recommend if walking in the area.
