Visited here with my aging mum as a nice treat. The drive out here is so scenic and the pub itself has such a pretty setting. However, the food was pretty naff. My mum's pork chop was dry. She has onset dementia and had been struggling silently. She takes a long time eating anyway and it wasn't until we'd both... More

Visited the Strines as a member of a group of bikers. We had an excellent light lunch of salad and sandwiches. A great place to stay if you like a traditional style pub that serves good food and beer.

The Strines Inn is in the Dark Peak area, in the middle of nowhere, on the road from Midhope (near Penistone and Stockbridge) to the snake pass near Bamford. The road is popular with cyclist due to its hills. This little Inn doesn’t seem to have changed in years but that is what you expect in a nearly 250 year... More

We had our wedding lunch at The Strines Inn and we also stayed over night. A really old pub full of old world charm with lovely views across The Strines Dam. It offers a warm, welcoming and cosy atmosphere, packed with old quirky objects and stone fire places. The staff were great, friendly and helpful and we enjoyed some delicious... More

The food is just great pub grub. Proper steak and ale pie, shortcrust pastry, packed with tender meat and Henderson's by request. Good value and generous portions. We stayed one night in the room overlooking the reservoir, comfy, quirky but not restful. The dozen or so peacocks screech like banshees through the night so earplugs are a must.

Visited the Strines Inn with my partner and both our families this weekend. We sat outside in the sunshine with the beautiful surroundings! Never know a pub to have such a stunning view surrounded by little lambs and the sound of peacocks. We all had a main meal, I had the beef in the large yorkshire pudding which was perfect.... More

First discovered this place 15 years ago with fellow walkers & always loved it. Have been back on many occasions since. We stayed over for the first time on our last visit 2 weeks ago with our dog. The sun was shining so on our arrival we dumped our bags & off we went. Came back with a huge appetite,... More

Great little country inn in middle of moorland with a great beer garden giving nice views and they also had a play area for the kids. We chose all our meals from the specials menu and each was home cooked and delicious. Service was great and the staff were very welcoming.

Lovely very old English pub in a great location with beautiful views. On a very old day we enjoyed a beautiful hot chocolate. Friendlyvservice .......always good when a pub is full of the locals. Didn't try the food but it looked good and the menu was very varied.

I worked here throughout the 80's (My mother was the 'cook') when the restaurant upstairs served the most stunning carveries, Sunday lunch buffets upstairs, then moved downstairs for all the walkers and dog owners. Long nights by the real fires with the 'locals' who actually drove miles to be there. Decided to take mum back for lunch one Sunday recently,... More
