Went on a Fri-Sun Break on the African Queen after seeing it on the Hotel Inspector series. Unlike most of the places on that programme that you still wouldnt stay in after a makeover this one we were intrigued about. We arrived on the first evening in time for our Sunset cruise with a glass of bubbly. We were a... more

Last year my fiancee and myself went on the African Queen for Christmas. We enjoyed it so much that we had to take my family and friends visiting from South Africa there this year. The location it self is probably one of the most beautiful locations in England. Again the crew's service was excellent, no request is to big for... more

We booked the African Queen early October for a group of international travellers attending a meeting in Reading. In our business we travel a lot, and normally stay in mundane (and expensive) chain hotels – so this was really a treat. When we came back to Reading last week for a follow-up meeting there was no question on where we... more

Our stay on board the African Queen was a birthday treat for me booked by my husband. He could not have made a better choice with this cruising hotel. From the moment we arrived Andy and Bonny were the perfect hosts. After bubbly on arrival, our first cruise was up river on a beautiful autumn evening, relaxing and watching the... more

A perfect break in a perfect setting. We booked the weekend cruise followed by two more nights b & b. Unfortunately the River Thames was too high for us to cruise and other guests decided to cancel, but Andy & Bonnie (the owners) said we were still welcome to go as it was our wedding anniversary - we're so glad... more

Arrived a little after 17:00 for check in. I was treated with a generous cocktail and made to feel very welcome. Even when one of the other couples arrived a little late they were treated very politely (something that does not happen at airports). The Cocktail Cruise was very pleasant and relaxing. The boat just glides past beautiful birds and... more

The African Queen provided the perfect base for a few days stay in Reading for a conference. The boat was really comfortable and we were incredibly well looked after by the owners. If you are lucky enough to stay there you must eat on board, we had the most wonderful meal which we all agreed was top class, made from... more

We spent New Years Eve with a group of friends on the African Queen. The welcome was warm, the boat was comfortable and we had a fantastic night. Bonnie served us wonderful (and very plentiful) South African food, and the next morning Andy served a substantial cooked breakfast. After breakfast we went for a short cruise up the river .... more

I was on the African Queen in late September 2007. The boat is larger than I expected and I found the rooms small but nice and comfortable. I was on the boat for the weekend cruise and I really enjoyed my time especially when we moored at Henley on Thames. The food was incredible and overall the experience was great.... more
