A great find. I like to stay at independent hotels rather than ones part of the bigger chains and this hotel reinforces why I do. A good room rate (yes, I know, that depends on how you book), a location not far from the town centre and really helpful, engaging and personable staff. The room was small but adequate, well... The Thameside Hotel may only be small with it's 26 bedrooms but it is excellent in so many ways. The Staff are courteous and hard working to make your visit complete and successful. The disabled facilities are perfect and the bedrooms beautiful

We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel in room and in apartments. The most we like there was the managers / owners (it seems that the hotel is run by the the family, as we saw the same people everyday responsible for operating activity). The hostess was very friendly and adequate. She could propose to us better prices that... More

I don't give out an excellent rating easily. I was quite pleased with my stay at Thameside. There are a few things to point out as negative so let me get those out of the way first. The exterior was a bit worn, the street (Caversham) was a bit noisy, there wasn't an elevator and I was on the 3rd... More

Images on website were definitely not the room I stayed in. Décor poor and shabby however bathroom was clean and tidy. but again minimal soaps etc. The gent on reception gave us a warm welcome while the night porter tried to rip us off (have a drink yourself was my offer-then to find he had put £15.00 on the bill... Just when I thought hospitality had really died, I found myself in a small hotel with the most friendliest welcome and customer service that was beyond 5 star. The hotel is clean and very modern and the breakfast was fresh and lovely. Being a female, lone business traveller i didn´t in any way feel intimidated to be in the hotel.... More

Reading is always a problem for getting a good hotel at a decent price i.e. there usually isnt any - they are all either full or overpriced. The Thameside is between a b&b and a hotel. The good points - Friendly staff, all facilities are there, good TV, wifi, reasonable decoration, free parking. Not so good - expensive, not like... More

Overall positive experience in Thameside Hotel. It's more a B&B than a real hotel, but fit perfectly my needs: cheap, good location in Reading (15 min walking from the center), clean, free wifi connection. Breakfast is expensive considering what offered.
