Service was friendly at reception and in the bar, rooms were nice. Good central location in Reading; great for the train station ad the Oracle shopping centre and restaurants. The car park in an NCP one and just looks awful and dirty though - not a nice environment to have to walk thru. I didn't eat at the hotel, but... More

PLEASE invest in decent internet. 5 minutes to download an email is a joke and you will lose business because of this. This is not 1993. It's 2014. Stop being so unbelievably cheap. Oh, and clean the human body fluid stains from the furniture in the lounge and rooms. Truly disgusting !!!!!!

Very helpful staff. Quirky (as you would expect from a Mal). Very Dark train theme, which is interesting. Great location right in the heart of Reading, so a short walk from anywhere. Super quiet at night (we were on the 4th floor)

Mallard is a beautiful suite - fab bedroom, lovely lounge, the bathroom is just AMAZING... All great except for one thing: the Starbucks attached to the hotel opens at 6am - so from 5.30 onwards you're treated to a consistent herd of elephants, traipsing into the coffee shop... Not good... It's not even as though it's just a little bit... More

Dear Mark A I’m surprised to read you comments. I’m sorry that you feel our prices are too expensive, however having completed a comparison of our prices against other local similar quality hotels and restaurants we are happy to say that they are in-line with our competitions. I am curious to understand if it was simply the price that has... More

The brief encounter, that fleeting glance from across the platform, a longing to be with the one you shouldn't...Meet me outside the station at this gloriously converted rail hotel. You shouldn't have this much fun so close to Heathrow, but you will at Mal. You shouldn't find a train set in your room, or a bath big enough for two, for that matter. ... more   less
