We stayed here for one night recently and really enjoyed the hotel. It's well located next to the train station and very close to shops and restaurants. We had a super room that was perfect for two adults and one child. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom spacious with lovely products. We didn't use the restaurant as we... More

Booked the wine dine and room deal here as an escape for our anniversary and was not disappointed! The meal was amazing and the service was so attentive, we even got a glass of bubbly each when they found out it was a special occasion. The food arrived quickly and was tasty as well as well presented, they even went... More

I have just checked in at Malmaison Reading, and am thoroughly dissatisfied. The room is somewhat shabby considering the cost of a superior double, chipped scratched and stained furniture. The room has a view of a derelict building. Not the fault of the hotel of course, but the room should be downgraded to a standard double given this. Upon opening... More

Stayed for one night, handy for the station, shopping and local restaurants. Downside is the subdued lighting, it doesnt do it for me and I cannot tell you if it was modern/old clean/dirty as it was too dark to tell. I have stayed in a lot of lovely good quality Hotels but this is one of the strangest.

Spent the day and evening in London with girlfriend but didn't want to pay stupid London prices for a less than average hotel. Malmaison was ideal. Parked at the station and got a 40min train back from Paddington around midnight. Friendly staff. Ordered room service- food arrived promptly as advised and was good quality. Nice room with good Ensuite and... More

My wife and I stayed here for one night whilst attending the rugby recently. Although the weekend started with the wrong result, the subsequent stay at the Mal more than made up for the disappointment. First of all, I can understand a lot of the comments about the lighting, however, I agree with most of the comments which suggest that... More

Stayed here for a night away shopping in Reading. Great central location and easy access to shops. The hotel itself is looking very tired. Fortunately they don't use much lighting but where they do you can see poor quality cleaning, wear and tear and furniture and decor in need of an upgrade. We ate at the restaurant which is passable... More

I understand the darkness - for my birthday treat we were booked into the Mallard Suite. The package we booked was provided and the room facilities are great. The bath is simply amazing - trip highlight. I don't understand how the noise from the 24 hour reception and starbucks directly above the room is considered acceptable by anyone using this... More

Re engineering to get the price down is an old habit in the food and beverage business. It has ruined many excellent brands HP Sauce toping the list. Since Heinz acquired the brand sales have dropped like a stone This place goes one step further down the line in deceiving the customer. Beer comes in pints or half pints on... More

Stayed here for one night in a superior room. Super quiet despite the proximity to Reading station. Dark lighting sets a romantic tone. Great rainfall shower and big, comfy bed with good quality linen. Tempting choices in the minibar. Smooth check in/check out. Didn't use the bar but looked cool for pre-dinner drinks. Good toiletries!
