My feelings about this place are mixed....the pub is lovely, and the food we ate there in the evening and at breakfast was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms, however, were another thing altogether. Ours was reminiscent of some motel in communist Russia trying to be western, or something. The bed was OK, but the appointments were... more

I booked Sunday lunch to celebrate my brothers birthday. We were a family of 6. It was massively disapponting. My husband and I ordered tomato and hero soup. It was cold. Anne tasted like bland tinned tomatoes with tomato purée. We sent it back and the second time it was still only warm. We all ordered roast dinners, Lamb, chicken... more

I booked myself and 4 colleagues into the Castle Inn, upon the recommendation of colleagues who had stayed at the Inn previously. The rooms, which are in a separate annex to the rear of Inn had been tastefully refurbished, were comfortable, airy, clean and very well appointed. The restaurant wasn’t a surprise as I had dined here a few months... more

We have just had a couple of nights at The Crown whilst celebrating a wedding at the nearby Maple Durham House. The pub itself is in a lovely old building, bags of character, great efficient staff, they even bother to light the candles. The food was excellent, interesting menu where you can opt for a starter size portion or a... more

From the outside, I was a little daunted, but once shown to our room in the converted barn - amazing! Clean, spacious, airy comfortable room with wall mounted flat screen TV and great bathroom although the bath was a bit narrow. As for the bed - huge and very comfortable. I had an amazing nights' sleep. The bar is very... more

Having spent several hours cycling from Windsor in rain and very heavy traffic, it was a great relief to arrive at the Crown Inn in Playhatch. We greeted by the very friendly staff and given hot, strong tea and biscuits, while waiting for our room to be rearranged from a double to a twin. The rooms are in a separate... more

Stayed here while visiting family in Henley. Easy to find from Henley or Reading. Rooms are very spacious and modern - not country pub style - the pictures on their website are spot on. Very quiet - couldn't hear any pub customers, even on a busy day when the garden was full. Toiletries in bathroom, digital tv, hairdryer, broadband, tea... more

Looking at all the other reviews, I wonder if I stayed at the same place. The Crown is undoubtedly good value, the rooms are clean and fairly well appointed and the restaurant food was very good, but I am not sure that it merits the exceptional ratings that it is attracting. Perhaps my expectations were too high having read all... more

We just spent 6 nights at the Crown and it was wonderful! The staff is professional and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms were completely equipped with everything a causal traveler or business traveler could ask for, from tea and cookies to high speed internet. The only problem I had was getting out of bed because it was... more
