This hotel had two things in its favour. It was moderately priced and it was close to Reading city centre. Against it was the noise from the bar which went on until after midnight. The two situations are not really compatible, that of a popular cheap boozer, which one can see is probably filled with young drinkers until the middle... More

We were going to a festival in Henley on Thames so booked this hotel. So relaxed and chilled great service from the bar staff and reception no fuss or hassle. Room was dated but spotless a four poster bed lovely clean bedding. Excellent customer service cooked breakfast was scrummy and so we went back for our lunch. Lovely comfy chesterfields... More

I booked this hotel because I needed somewhere last minute and cheap. It started badly, I arrived around 10pm on the first night of two to be greeted my a bloke having a wee outside in the street. Inside wasn't much better, a group of drunks playing pool in a very very tacky Victorian street scene décor. I got booked... More

we arrived to the hotel at 10pm and we had to waiting more that 30 minutes in order to have the key of our room becuse the staff lost it. After half an hour spent in the bar we suggested to the guy to give us the master key. The room was nice and big enough but cleaniness was terrible.... More

The hotel is very central and we found that to be convenient for shopping etc. Our room was large and had a four poster bed and a very large bath. Overall the place was clean and airy and there was plenty of tea//coffee available in the room. We found the staff to be extremely pleasant and we felt the customer... More

Well, I had a four poster room which was excellent! Its really big and clean. However, the pub itself is quite rough. I had to check out by 11 am and at about 9 whilst I was still asleep, a worker opened up the room and nearly walked in, questioning me when I'm going to check out. Furthermore, whilst I... More

A pleasant, unfussy hotel. Clean rooms, with the welcome addition of a fan, especially on a hot night. Friendly bar staff when checking in, very straightforward. There's a car park nearbye that only charges £5 a day.

Good central location at a reasonable rate (as single room rates go). I checked in at the bar and was told I could store my bicycle in the cellar. My room was spacious and clean with a very good shower in a good sized en-suite. Everything I needed was provided, ie Tea making facilities, TV and shower gel. Breakfast was... More

I stayed here on a Friday night after a work do. Perfectly situated just behind the Oracle with parking close by in Queens Road car aprk (£15.10 for 24 hours) The bar part is done up like a Dickensian street and looks good, you need to head right to the back at the end of the bar to check in.... This is an average Hotel with an average sized Rooms. But still, you won't find the Rooms too crunchy. The interior of the Hotel has been designed to give it an antique look & displays some of the memories of the Great Writer, 'Charles Dickens'. This Hotel serves one of the best English breakfast in the world. The advantages here you... More
