We booked Russell Court Reading at the last minute as our travel plans finalised very late, we travel a lot with our work and usually stay at the brand name hotels, but I must say staying at the Russell court was very enjoyable and relaxing, excellent hospitable staff, impressively clean and hygienic facilities made us feel very welcome and at... more

On Arrival, the hotel (which isnt a hotel) was fully booked despite the owner calling us that week to verify our stay. He then tried to ship us to another hotel in the "group" (his friends i thought) after waiting outside for 20 mins for the taxi he was booking which didnt turn up i went inside to query the... more

Management response from
RCH-Reading, owner

I as a rule do not post my reply to the customer reviews as I strongly believe we all are entitled to our opinions; however I feel compelled to reply to this review to clarify our side. This gentleman (let’s call him Mr H) made a reservation of two rooms with us for 18th October over the phone, we sent...

Unfortunately my stay was booked by my Employer who is not smart enough to visit TripAdvisor before booking, although to be fair it was a trifle 'last-minute'. I have to agree with all those who criticise the place. It is very shabby, smells a little musty, double room was tiny - 10' square with the tiny toilet/shower room and tiny... more

I was visiting Reading from cardiff with my family and as a visitor needed a place to stay which was economical as well as comfortable. I found the perfect place on Russell street. The friendly manager at Russell court hotel gave us a warm welcome. The rooms were clean and spacious and well decorated with all the perks provided which... more

Sadly the Russell Court didn't come-up to scratch. The rooms vary from small to claustrophobic, with bathrooms where you can't open the door without hitting the wash basin. We booked three rooms, and all had their problems, including dirty sheets, broken taps (one so broken that the constant hot running water was making the room unbearably humid), mould in the... more

Me and partner recently stayed for one night at this hotel. (double room,£49.00 with breakfast) The hotel is 15 minutes walk from the train station. The hotel was very clean and well kept. The hotel seem to have been recently refurbished. The room wasn't large but it was tastefully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The sheets and the... more

I would not recommend to others. Advertised as a hotel and charged hotel prices, but there are better B&B's available for a cheaper price. CONS: Paid extra through a hotel website, but was very dissapointed. Paid £70 for a double room en suite, but the bedroom was tiny (about 1ft space all around bed), TV was a rubbish portable, en-suite... more
