The hotel website boasts it being the oldest thought building in Reading, built sometime in the 1700s. So, expect a building that was built in the 1700s. While it it a little rickety with the low ceilings, winding corridors and dated furniture this hotel is precisely as advertised and beautiful to stay in. The age of the building only adds... More

Room clean, well furnished, bathroom small but adequate. My only, but real complaint was the street noise, even with the provided ear plugs it was very noisy.staff excellent, and professional.Breakfast adequate and varied.

First up, I should say that we had a pleasant enough stay and no problems really to speak of. We'd booked in here quite late after not having been able to find any accommodation in Winchester or anywhere else closer, so this was a nice option -- an attractive historic inn -- in an otherwise bland modern city. We were... More

Very centrally located hotel in Reading. Old quirky building, bit of a rabbit Warren, to be expected for a building of this age. Gentleman at reception smartly dressed, welcoming, polite and efficient. Room modest size but adequate. Tea/coffee making facilities, wall mounted ironing board and iron. TV decent and good free WiFi connection. Bed comfortable with decent linen. Only one... More

Stayed here for a couple of nights while attending a hen weekend. Perfect for facilities and a lovely town to visit. The hotel was okay and reasonably clean. When I got to my room I should have known it was going to be noisy as there were ear plugs in the room. I had 2 hours sleep all night as... More

I am sorry to know that your recent stay with us did not meet your expectation. Hotel is usually quiet but being a Town centre hotel we can occasionally expect noise in some rooms and as a precaution we do provide ear plug. I am sorry once again for the inconvenience caused and look forward to see you again. Kind... More

We stayed here due to a party in Reading town centre. Excellent location, parking not a problem however my biggest issue was the staff. From check in staff to bar staff there were offhand, surly and pretty much rude. What a shame in a decent convenient hotel.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 night stay whilst on a quick trip to the UK and got what I paid for. As previously reviewed, the hotel is in the centre of town with no car parking out the front to drop off luggage and you have to park at a city multi story park about 4 minutes walk... More

After the difficult search round Readings depressing one way system we eventually found the place - but discovered the parking was further up the one way system, a long walk to the hotel but not the end of the world. Check in was easy, friendly and efficient. The single rom I was allocated was right up in the gods (attic).the first... More

Thanks for your review and i am sorry to know you had difficulty getting to the hotel due to the oneway system in Reading.
