I've been working in nearby Reading for a while now, and have been sampling the nearby hotels. So far I've stayed in the Ibis and the Novotel in the town centre. The Ibis is cheap and feels like it. The Novotel is expensive, and whilst you do get a more contemporary room and the feel of the hotel is newer... more

Customer service overall pretty average especially at front desk. Restaurant alot better than expected with good service and food very nice. Stayed in suite....nice balcony, room large enough but a bit tired in places eg paint coming loose etc. Rtnd to room after dinner to relax and have a nice drink on balcony but had to go inside due to... more

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your recent visit to the hotel. I am dissapointed that you felt the hotel did not meet your expecations and have taken your comments on board. I hope that should you return to Reading in future you would re-consider using the Crowne Plaza as a place to stay.

Having stayed at several Crowne Plaza hotels before, I knew that this hotel would be of a high standard. The hotel is about a mile from Reading Station and right on the banks of the river Thames. It is well worth booking a room with a river view. Not just because the view is nice, but because the hotel is... more

Given that we spent two nights (including Breakfast) at the Hilton Hotel in Maidstone for almost £20 less than ONE night cost here, this was too expensive for what was offered. Yes, it's a decent hotel with a nice location. The Breakfast was good (not as good as ther Hilton's though, where there were many more options) and the standard... more

I chose this place because it was close to where I would be working, knowing nothing of Reading or the area. I was surprised by the hotel's position on the Thames which makes for a relaxed feel to the place. Its lovely to sit on the terrace and look at the boats passing on the river. The rooms are fine,... more

Hotel was just fine and better than I've come to expect recently from 'big chain' hotels. Not a bad price £100 for a CP..but that was without b/fast. Pool, too cold for my little one to enjoy and so we only could dip our toes into the hot tub (too hot to get in for her). The whole hotel and... more

We went for the weekend (to see the football!) The hotel staff were very friendly , the receptionist even rememberd my name the next day! The rooms etc were the cleanest I have ever been in. The food was excellent (except for the scrambled eggs - not sure what happened to them!) The hotel was very secure. My 11 year... more

We stayed here for one very hot night in July and were extremely impressed by the help and attention we received when we reported a problem. The hotel staff were extremely charming and helpful in dealing with it, especially the restaurant manager (who went out of his way to assist us) and the receptionist. It was very refreshing to be... more
