One night stay with friends prior to visiting Blenheim Palace the next day. Our room (107) had a rather unpleasant smell, sort of 'mould covered up by bitumen' type smell. Had we been staying more than one night, would have had to draw it to their attention. Assumed it was down to the age of the property, although it wasn't... More

This was a last minute booking to tie in with a reunion so knew nothing about the pub. Very warm welcome on arrival, by staff and the lovely log fires burning in the bar and dining room. Large party were having lunch but the staff still took good care of people coming into the pub for drinks/lunch. There was a... More

Spent one night here. Lovely area and the pub/restaurant very good. Three of us had a three course evening meal with wine and a few extra drinks came to £90 very reasonable. Highly recommended. Room was lovely and enough space. Beds comfortable with extra pillows and blankets. Breakfast selection excellent and well cooked.

Booking the hotel at the last minute and not knowing what to expect. On arrival welcomed by a friendly competent member of staff. The room was excellent, very clean and comfortable. Our evening meal was perfect and service was excellent. After meal enjoyed the warmth of an open fire, very friendly revellers. All in all a great night and would... More

Stopped here for a meal. Food came out quickly from kitchen (a bad sign) and before we'd started eating the waiter asked if everything was ok - I assumed he meant had we got everything we'd asked for. Part way through the meal a waitress also asked if everything was ok and I told her the roast lamb was very... More

I really enjoyed my stay here on business. The room was an excellent size, clean and tidy. The location is ideal for exploring The Cotswolds, Oxford and beyond. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed for one night in November whilst visiting Woodstock. The hotel rooms are in a block behind the pub/restaurant and are dated but clean and comfortable. The pub is located on a main road a short drive from Woodstock and was a convenient place to stay whilst visiting local attractions. The food was good and the staff helpful.

My friend and I were travelling back to North Wales from Cornwall via Oxford and were disparately seeking beds for the night. With everything fully booked in Woodstock we stopped here and were pleasantly surprised by a clean comfortable room, good food and beer, a reasonable tariff and a friendly and entertaining owner. The breakfast was lovely and I would... More

First off all a friendly face is always great and the owner was just that. Turned up a little early but no problem after a nice chat With Derik the owner. All the staff young and old very friendly and helpfull at all times. Accommodation was great, not your stuffy EBIS or travel lodge bland room but a room with... More

We visit the hotel on Saturday 16/11/13 & found the staff extremely helpful. They understood the reason for our visit was upsetting (funeral of an aunt). We would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a quite comfortable place to stay. Top marks to the rooms & food.
