We had an overnight stay here as we had a wedding at Blenheim Palace and was pleasantly surprised at how convenient it was for our venue and surrounding attractions. This historic accommodation had all the modern amenities required to make our stay a very enjoyable experience. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are spacious and well equipped. A lovely... More

We stayed at the Marlborough Arms at the August bank holiday weekend. It is an absolutely charming old building with parking to the rear. Our room was a deluxe double, large with king size bed and a modern bathroom (bath with shower over). The only slight negative is that it is a busy road through Woodstock and the traffic noise... Firstly I should say that this is not the normal sort of place we'd book. I know a lot do, but we're not that keen on 'character' hotels - they're dust traps and I have asthma! But we were allocated Room 10 over the August Bank Holiday weekend and it was very good indeed. Extremely spacious room (in the eves),... More

We stayed at this Hotel to attend a wedding at Blenheim and what a find, it was within walking distance. We were greeted by a lovely lady who made us feel very welcome, the room was outside in the courtyard so lovely and private. It was exceptionally clean and the bed was really comfortable. The hotel is an old coaching... More

We were looking for a nice place to stay with good access to Oxford. As usual we read all the reviews and decided to book two nights as it seemed a bit pricey. We were checked in by the gentleman who was very charming and helpful, he didn't introduce himself but I gather from other reviews that he is called... More

We found this place to be quite a surprise. The exterior of the building was not at all out of the ordinary for the area but the rooms were a total delight. Each room was tastefully decorated with its own character. All the furnishings and linens were new and top quality. The owners were approachable and helpful. The breakfast was... More

I've stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions, with family & on my own. Woodstock is an amazing place in it's own right & this hotel is obviously perfect for visiting Blenheim Palace. There is good parking, the bedrooms are nicely decorated, the breakfast room is pleasant & breakfast is always good. Security is good & the hotel... More

I have visited Oxford several times this year and I'm delighted to have discovered the Marlborough Arms in Woodstock ( about 15 minutes from the city ) where I've enjoyed the warm welcome of Sally and Alistair, owners and hosts , who have taken great pride in ensuring every detail within this traditional Coaching Inn has been attended to. Following a mix-up in bookings in another hotel in Woodstock, Alistair (owner) kindly offered a room at the Marlborough Arms. The Marlborough Arms is a good central place to stay in Woodstock, nicely furnished and very hospitable

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Marlborough Arms is a beautiful 14th century coaching inn, situated in the heart of Woodstock, overlooking historical streets. Whilst guests can enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings they still have good links to the M40. The hotel has been elegantly finished in a classic style in-keeping with the character of the building and surrounding area, with contemporary touches throughout. Guests can also take advantage of the inn's own car park located directly behind the property. Each of the ten luxurious en-suite bedrooms are all individually themed with a focus on comfort and relaxation. All rooms differ in shape, size and style, ranging from the Cobalt Room, which is situated overlooking the courtyard which has a contemporary feel with beautiful sensuous fabrics and natural morning light, through to the Sepia Room, which is a very large room with a striking interior of deep greys and gentle soft tones, set off with modern lamps and cushions. All of the rooms have dimmer controlled lighting, flat screen television, tea and coffee making facilities. Along with a bath or large walk in shower, some rooms are equipped with both! ... more   less
