We stayed for one night recently. Room was fine except for some pills (presumably dropped by the previous occupant) on the bathroom floor. We had a very nice dinner and the Restaurant Manager was excellent. Breakfast was another matter! This is generally pretty decent in hotels I stay in but here the fruit etc. was fine but every element of... More

Stayed with my family in this lovely, characterful Cotswold hotel. Lots of charm, great location in the centre of a pretty Cotswold town. Parked the car and could walk everywhere we wanted to go. Great room for a family, spacious and comfortable. Good, helpful, pleasant service at reception, in the bar and at breakfast.

We had a great couple of days in this historic but very comfortable hotel. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were all first class. Ideally situated for local shops as well as the splendid Blenheim Palace, the ancestral home of Sir Winston Churchill. Well worth a visit.

My first visit to this property for about 12 years. I liked it then so had high expectations and I was not disappointed. The room was complete and prepared in all respects as well as bing comfortable and quite. The staff are outstanding and nothing is too much trouble for them. The public areas, and indeed the whole building oozes... More

Room 30 is handsome room with a half-tester bed. The bathroom lovely and the hotel as a whole is fantastic. Service excellent. Room service burger was a-mazing as was the warm chocolate brownie! Staff really helpful and kind. I would return in a heart-beat. And Blenheim is literally a 5 minute walk so it's the ideal place to stay if... More

Made the right decision to stay at the Bear and upgrade to a suite. Had a loverly room with a carved four poster, big bathroom and sofa area. Very nicely appointed and comfortable. Had a drink in the bar before a great dinner, really good selection of wine by the glass. Had the sm salmon then fillet steak all excellently... More

Very good hotel in a great location. Breakfast and dinner in the hotel were all very good and the service was spot on. So close to Blehenim Palace you can walk. Very olde worldly hotel. Full of charm and character

Given the price you expect to be a high quality room. Unfortunately the heater was not working and no other room was available. So ended up using a camping heater, very desappointing. Even though the experience started very well with the dinner etc I really didn't like staying in the room at 18* for 1h waiting for the heater to... More

An excellent hotel for a visit to Blenheim. Just a stones throw from the entrance to the grounds of the estate and right in the middle of Woodstock. The room, food and service were all good and e will probably go again using our annual Blenheim pass.

The hotel was excellently located in the town center of Woodstock and a short stroll to shops, cafes and restaurants. The room was lovely with lots of nice detail such as a nespresso machine, it was large, clean with an amazing bed in a quiet location
