I loved this charming place but if you dont like 200 year old buliding with no lifts, creaky floor bords and dark wood then stay away and leave this charming hotel to those who do. more

I decided to treat my Mum to a few days away and chose the Bear for its location in the Cotswolds. I didn't want anything too expensive but that had a good atmosphere, old world charm and a bit of comfort. The Bear did not disappoint!. Our room was a lovely en-suite twin with character and a very good size.... more

We had a wonderful time in this historic hotel in a charming little village. We where travelling with two small children, but apart for lacking an elevator (not a problem really), the stay ha a high degree of comfort. Our room was big enough for two baby cots (provided by the hotel at no extra cost), and the room was... more

A group of 20 stayed here in September 2009. Reception staff were very accommodating and helpful. Many of our group had interesting stories about their rooms -- some quirky and some funny. But what do you expect in such an old and historic property. The rooms were clean and up-to-date. Church bells next door rang incessantly, and we were told... more

Such a charming site! Twenty of us with Friendship Force-Louisville stayed here for three days. The hotel was an inn as far back as the 1200s. Became a glove factory at one point . . . then back to the inn it is today. Wonderful English breakfasts in charming medieval surroundings -- huge fireplaces, heavy timbers holding up the ceilings.... more

I've stayed at The Bear several times now; it's the best in town; there's a few places to stay as well which are ok, but not a patch on The Bear. Breakfast is great, loads of variety and eat as much as you like. Sometimes I'm late up so they even do me a take away! I had dinner one... more

We stayed at the Bear for our wedding at Blenheim Palace and I could not recommend it highly enough. Before the wedding we stayed there on 2 previous occasions and the staff were warm, friendly and couldn't do enough to assist us during our stay. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are basic but... more

We were excited to be staying at such an attractive hotel in a beautiful village, but things got even better when we checked in with our dogs and were given a free upgrade to a very large luxury 4 poster room in the courtyard with parking space outside. Our dogs were always given water by the friendly barmaid, whether in... more

We stayed at the Bear two years ago but it seems to be under new management and it has seriously deteriorated. The Ladies toilet has broken and tatty soap dispenser which meant you couldn't wash your hands. Not very hygienic, and noticed staff used this facility too. Disgusting. Overpriced. more
