We love The Bear - it's a lovely old hotel with lots of character. Really comfortable, cosy rooms with gorgeous large comfy bed and pillows. Friendly staff - and great breakfasts! Woodstock is great for a wander too.

We used The Bear as a stop off on an onward journey and were not disappointed. The room was very comfortable, the staff attentive and food good. Being an 'old' hotel it had a lot of period features which adds to its charm. We spent the first night of our honeymoon there some forty years ago and were wondering how... More

Woodstock is stunningly beautiful, historic and peaceful . The hotel is much the same.... One downside , the walls are paper thin in the main building, one to think about ! As its an historic building, the stairs and floors are uneven, I am sure if this worries you the hotel team will ensure they find the right room for... More

Have just returned from a wonderful weekend. The staff were exceptional, couldn't do enough for us. They really made our stay so special. The breakfast manager was so hard working and really ran a very "tight ship" . The waitresses at dinner were so charming, always cheerful. The rooms were delightful and the beds extremely comfortable. Have stayed in a... More

Nice village, hotel looks great BUT and it's a big butt, even bigger than J Lo's. This hotel looks really great but even when you approach it the difficulties start to appear. You use the postcode it brings you to the front of the hotel and the narrow entrance. If you have a low slung car the kerb WILL scratch... More

Have just spent a wonderful long weekend in an exceptionally good hotel. The beds were extremely comfortable, the room was beautifully clean, the water always hot, the towels dazzlingly white and fluffy and the food both at breakfast and in the evening was outstanding. However, what really made our stay exceptional was how very helpful, friendly and cheerful all the... More

My husband and I stayed at The Bear for one night but wished we could have stayed longer. From start to finish our stay was perfect. Lovely helpful and friendly staff. The room was impeccable, spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished to a high standard. Breakfast was delicious. Huge choice of fruits, cereals, pastries etc and a lovely cooked breakfast served... The Bear hotel is located downtown Woodstock and have 700 years of history. Each rooms are different and based of the price you pay you can have large or very small ( minuscule) room. The hotel has a lot of charm and my room ( even if it was pretty small) was clean and cozy. Bathroom was small but very... More

Lovely olde worlde hotel with modern day luxury. Quirky winding staircases and wooden beams. Loads of attentive staff at mealtimes and the evening meal was beautifully cooked and presented. Ample free parking and close to shops but no traffic noise. Bus to Oxford just around the corner.

The rooms and the whole atmosphere of the hotel was charming with lots of different period features in the different rooms. Internet access was not available in all rooms depending on distance from the centre.
