Stayed for 3 nights and would highly recommend a stay here. Sally was very welcoming when we arrived. We were taken into the conservatory overlooking the garden to be checked in. The house is situated in a leafy suburb of Oxford and has off-street parking. There are buses into the centre every few minutes and the bus stop is a... more

This B&B is okay/nice enough just felt a little let down. This has 5*'s and a silver award, reading up on that it means roughly "outstanding quality with a touch of luxury" and we just couldn't agree with that. Our room in the attic was tiny, and the wall separating us from the room next door was awfully thin. Unless... more

Management response from
Sally Tompkins, Owner

Sally and Tony are committed to offering the best in hospitality and service as previous reviews show. Unfortunately we did not meet this guest as were on doctor's orders to take a break - seven days a week takes it's toll. Rooms do vary in size at any hotel and guest house. Decor is a matter of personal taste of...

We booked for a three night stay in the Gables and arrived to a warm welcome. Our room was a good size and very clean , as was the whole establishment. The kingsize bed was comfortable and all our requirements were catered for. Breakfasts are unhurried with plenty of choice ; a good and substantial start to the day. Sally... more

Well I can certainly understand why Sally has been nominated several times and actually won the Landlady of the Year award. Sally is extremely welcoming and helpful from the time you arrive to the time you leave. She has a gorgeous little conservatory overlooking her beautiful garden where she comfortably welcomes you and gets the arrival business out of the... more

A group of seven of us have just had a really superb weekend at Sally's B&B. Sally went out of her way to accomodate us all and the rooms were all spotlessly clean and comfortable. The added extras of bath robes, hairdryers, biscuits, mints etc in the rooms were very much appreciated. Although we all arrived at different times during... more

This guesthouse is very nice. It has parking which is helpful but we used the buses to get around which were in plentiful supply. There is a rather nice italian restaurant nearly (5 min walk) which you can get 15% off if you take one of the guest house's business cards. The host Sally is especially friendly and welcoming and... more

Just got back from our England visit - I was traveling with my girlfriend. Stayed for almost two weeks - most of them at a hotel in London, but got to sample 4 different B&B's - each for a night only, along the way. Gables was our first one - our flight landed early in the morning - 8:00 AM... more

In my job, unfortunatley, I have to travel quite a lot. I was given a short term contract in Oxford, and on a limited budget I had to find somewhere to stay. I booked in to The Gables for a week with the intention of looking for something nearer work (Central Oxford). However one week here, and having visited many... more
