We stayed for 2 nights in "The Clink", a lovely suite with a roll top bath and a separate TV room. The bed was very big, but the pillows were too soft. The room did seem a bit stuffy but I think that's because the windows don't open ( which I can understand as it was a prison). A coffee... More

Have always wanted to spend the night in prison and finally achieved it here. Didn't have to break the law....just had to hand over a wedge of cash...but worth every penny , great experience but a little nervous that room door might be locked in morning!!!!

I had one in the actual old prison and it had lots of nice features (comfy bed, nice bathroom although no rail to help get out of the bath, good size) but the windows were tiny and way up high so no view and not much light (ie old prison windows). Given the tiny windows, it would have been nice... More

Although the Malmaison hotel chain tends to be on the pricey side, it's worth paying the extra if you compare it to cheaper accommodation in Oxford. The buildings itself is unique - some of the rooms are former prison cells that have been converted. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the main attractions and there is a regular... More

My wife and I stayed here 2 nights in a superior king room; room 111. We were so looking forward to this trip as the hotel looks amazing. It didn't disappoint on arrival. Very beautiful hotel, all well put together. Unfortunately the arrival may have been the highlight... First surprise- £28.50 per day for parking- not mentioned anywhere on line... More

My husband surprised me for my birthday with a night staying in a cell in a prison! It was an amazing experience but nearly fainted when I saw how much he'd paid. Outside of our cell looked like we were in a film set of porridge, inside the cell was okay but not as luxurious as you would think for... More

Our party of 14 had the £35 three-course set menu in Cell Two. Food - delicious Service - thoughtful, timely, professional, flexible, friendly Setting - perfect for us to be as loud as we liked without disturbing other diners. Pre-drinks in the cocktail lounge were also very nice Price - good value for money. Highly recommended!

I wanted to stay here but it was out of my price range so I made do with lunch. I only had a starter and a glass of wine but it equalled about 25% more than my usual lunch price. However, when I asked staff about the history of the buidling and how they had changed cells into bedrooms, I... More

My wife and I decided to treat ourselves to a weekend in Oxford and booked into the Malmaison. The quirkiness appealed to our sense of the ridiculous. The rooms aren't the biggest - after all, they are converted prison cells, but are adequate. We only ate breakfast in the hotel, that was good quality though pretty much what you would... More
