We stayed for a night in July with friends. The check in process was streamlined and the rooms are amazing and comfortable. The deepest bath ever and a fantastic huge shower. Comfortable bed and lovely restaurant downstairs with brilliant friendly service. The room and bathroom is actually 3 old prison cells that have been refurbished to one lovely room. Very... More

Our checkin was a mess, slow and confusing then they lost of bags on the transfer to the room. The C wing was like a Premier Inn not that interesting. The breakfast was good, parking expensive, location excellent - a mixed bag overall and not really worth the price.

Great stay, clean, refurbished, spacious & value for money. Staff were courteous and prompt. Centrally located and close to all amenities, great value. I loved the fact that I was in a castle and ignored the face it was also a prison.

There are very few hotels based in the centre of Oxford and this is one of the best. It used to be a prison and the old cells have been well adapted and finished to a high standard. Although I appreciated the quirkiness I did find the rooms a bit claustrophobic as there were only high small windows in the... More

A lovely hotel in the hear of Oxford. The rooms are warm and quaint, with a history that is remarkable. Jamie Oliver's restaurant is a short walk from the hotel and has excellent food and ambiance. Also within walking distance is a unique and interesting shopping area - with items suitable for business travelers, college students and families.

I stayed 6 nights here on a business trip and was impressed with many aspects of the Malmaison. My room was on the ground floor at the front and though typically UK sized it was well done up with an exceptionally comfortable bed, fridge, iron/iron board, desk to work at, some snacks, and a big flat screen TV for when... This hotel is right in the centre of Oxford within walking distance of all the shops and attractions. At one time is was Oxford prison and it has been converted to a hotel but kept a lot of the prison feel. The rooms are the old cells (I think two cells knocked into one to make the bathroom and bedroom).... More

Just back from a weekend stay @ Malmaison. I thought the hotel was pleasant enough, the breakfast was very good & the hotel staff were very helpful. Our room was a standard double in the "house of correction". This is where I start to complain...We paid £533 for 2 nights with a continental breakfast. The room was "standard" to say... More

What a delight to move to the Malmaison after having spent my first night at the awful Four Pillars Thames that lastminute.com had given me as a secret hotel - big mistake on my part that I won't make again -worst hotel ever - the Malmaison experience was entirely different - what a fabulous hotel - friendly and efficient fron...
