Top character hotel, the old Oxford prison tastefully converted into a great hotel with many original features still visible. Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Restaurant and bar areas were wonderfully converted and food ( steak or Seabass ) very tasty. We also found staff to be both very polite and helpful. Hotel is also right in the centre... More

The property is just so interesting. When was the last time you stayed in a prison? The food at a group dinner was surprisingly good that included one of the best deserts I've had. The location is good as relatively close to everything with lots just outside your door. The front desk however was a mixed bag. We had some... More

I have just come back from two nights stay at the Mal and had a great time. The hotel is very unique and its this that appealed to me. Rooms (or cells) are furnished to a high standard and the staff cant do enough for you. We only ate breakfast in the hotel which was freshly cooked and the choice... More

I stayed here with my partner as both of us fancied trying somewhere different to normality to stay in, we were both pleasantly surprised with the hotel. It has been finished/decorated to a very high standard by Malmaison group since they have taken the hotel over from the previous occupiers!! I stayed in a double room/cell which had a lovely... More

The concierge desk - was very helpful especially Poppy (sorry I don't have her last name). She was an absolute delight in suggesting restaurants and shopping locations. She has a wonderful smile and very pleasant demeanor. The hotel was wonderful and I sincerely thank you and the staff for the wonderful hospitality. My room was amazing, the welcome chocolate cupcakes,... More

Firstly I strongly recommend that you let the hotel park your car , we got a space right outside and it is only £2 more than the multi-storey in town . The hotel is in the old prison , 3 old cells make up a normal room , try and get one in the old prison bit , it is... More

This time:- problem one booked on line, dinner bed and breakfast, then tried to book dinner 21.30 only available time which for us was too late, rang up could... More

We went as part of a group booking for a birthday, and were given a side room. The room itself was pleasant and light, but it took us over two and a half hours to get our main courses. This was despite having pre-ordered our meals a week in advance! The most annoying part was that the two children's meals... More

Dear James D, Thank you for taking the time to write with your review of your group dining experience. It is a real shame that you chose to share this feedback on social media rather than speaking with us during your experience so that we could affect the service at the time. Within group private dining alone, we service approximately... More

I brought my wife her for one night as we were having a couple of days in Oxford. I wanted something cool, quirky, sexy and of a decent quality. Mal hits every mark! We stayed in the more modern part (houses of correction) as the rooms were a bit larger, even so they are small so be prepared. They are... More

We had booked a standard room but, having been offered an upgrade at a small supplement, we reserved a room in the old cell block. Cells are the USP of this Malmaison and we were pleased to have made this choice. The overall vibe is similar to that of other Malmaisons in which we've stayed. That is, black-painted furniture, good... More
