Really does live up to your expectations. Staff were very helpful and friendly whoever we came in contact with. Brasserie well worth a visit food was amazing, our waiter remembered us at breakfast which was so attentive. Rooms are to a high standard Great place to stay with so much history and atmosphere

We went for one night, and didn't book a cell block room. Despite this, the room we got, which was in the exercise yard no 501, was very well furnished and spacious. There were signs of general wear and tear such as chipped furniture and a bath sealant which needed replacing, but other than this the room was clean. For... More

We will soon be launching our venus awards to recognise women in Oxford and wanted to have an elite get together for sponsors and potential sponsors. We chose the Malmaison because of its great reputation and wonderful setting. What a great decision that was. The food was amazing. The sponsors very impressed too. We were so pleased that we have... I stayed here three or four years ago and had a great experience. It's a really unique place, but to really experience the uniqueness you need to be in a cell room. Unfortunately the standards have dropped, service is poor and the whole place feels like it needs updated. Like all Malmaisons it is dimly lit, but in this case... More

My boyfriend had tarted us to dinner and an overnight stay here and we weren't disappointed. The room was amazing, hard to believe it was made up of what used to be three prison cells! It had what is probably one of the most comfortable mattresses I have ever slept on in a hotel. The shower was a bit of... More

Three nights as a treat to myself and such a good choice. Bit expensive especially if you are travelling solo. But wouldn't have chosen anywhere else in Oxford. Staff were brilliant. Efficient, friendly, helpful. No complaints at all Dinner was delicious. Great menu, good value given the class of hotel. One thing - order the porridge for breakfast; it is... More

Stayed for 1 night at the OxfordMal for my birthday present. As a surprise my husband had booked the superior cell with cocktails and evening meal package with breakfast, this was booked online and the table reservation was also confirmed online. On arrival we had arranged parking which went smoothly and without issue yes it does feel expensive but it... More

Great location, amazing quirky hotel. Rooms are great - downside being that the blinds don't actually fit the window which is annoying in the morning. Check out at 12 was a bonus. Go for one night. Reception staff were very miserable though when we arrived.

I stayed with my husband for a romantic visit to Oxford so we splashed out on the Malmaison Hotel. The castle setting was great and provided a spooky atmosphere. I didn't opt for a prison room. The stay was good but not really great. The room was clean and comfortable but looking a bit faded and would benefit from modernisation.... More

Stayed at Oxford Malmaison for one night and one day. First the good. The food at dinner and particularly for breakfast was excellent. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The building was idiosyncratic. My room in the external house of correction was adequate. The room was small and the plumbing was a bit of a disaster. However there was... More
