Wow! We had a great stay at this hotel. What a "bang up" place :-). We got the Executive Suite. It was SO nice. We wanted to stay in the room all day!!! It is a conversion of a jail and done really nice. The bathtub was very good. The food was good. Will go back.

This is one of the best UK hotels I have stayed in hands down! The staff went above and beyond as it was our anniversary and we had chocolate covered strawberries given to us in our room and a few other little extras at check in ( Amy was amazing and very helpful) we upgraded and the roll top bath... Upon arrival this hotel really does have to wow factor, set in a little court yard amongst a little wine bar, Prezzo, Pizza Express, first impressions of the hotel are great. We arrived at 9.30pm and check in was smooth and efficient although the receptionist could of told us more about the hotel, for example that it had a old... More

Stayed on a Sunday and Monday night, Ate in the Brasserie on Sunday drinks took ages to arrive, how long does it take to unscrew a bottle? Food was fairly ordinary and overpriced as well as taking for ever to arrive, pay extra for veg. All this was a shame as the hotel was fun to stay in but i... More

My partner and I booked a one night stay at the Mal on a Sunday. We arrived and were checked in promptly and allowed to park our car just out the front rather than have them valet park it. Our room was big, clean, lovely and cool (it was about 28 degrees outside!) and had lots of goodies in the... More

This hotel is unique in many ways; old prison, high end quality finish, stylish yet authentic as it blends within the historic oxford city centre. Quite pretentious is many ways but if your staying here it's well worth it. On a rooftop, with a beer looking over Oxford on a warm summers evening catching glimpses of an outdoor theatre performance... More

I booked two nights in the hotel for my wife and I for her birthday, Standard room in the main wing with two days car parking included. Prior to leaving I also added an evening meal for the Thursday and a requested a small birthday cake. On arrival at 6.00pm the evening meal was confirmed and I assumed the birthday... More

The hotel is in the old castle building, which offers a different experience from most hotels. The interior is elegant and the atmosphere is quiet. We enjoyed the central and yet quiet location, with cafes and restaurants immediately outside in the castle courtyard. The staff was extremely helpful. This is definitly a hotel we would like to stay at again.

I had always stayed at another Oxford hotel in a similar price range when visiting from the US, but decided to try Malmaison Oxford Castle because I was coming in the summer and the rooms have air conditioning. A friend who lives in Oxford also said it was "nice and new." What a pleasant stay!! My basic "cell" room was... More
