My boyfriend and I have been there in September 2014. First of all I have to say that this is a very original hotel in a former prison. The surroundings of Malmaison are lovely and if you want to go out for dinner or for having a drink or if you just want to dance - there are a lot... More

This place is hard to find. Our sat nav took us past the entrance, the only sign being a small, wonky brown one on the opposite side of the road (apparently they can't put a sign on their entrance wall because it's historic). This error added half an hour extra to our journey as we inched our way around the... More

The Malmaison have taken the medieval theme a bit too literally with the lighting in this place. Taking us back to a time before electricity when who knows what lurked in the shadows. Seriously - it's so dark, Dracula himself would have needed infra-red goggles to find his way around. It was dark outside when we arrived which didn't help... More

Firstly upon arrival the staff were very friendly and accommodating and had reserved a table for dinner upon arrival if we wanted to eat in the restaurant although there was no pressure to do so. our room was simply stunning in the basement level but don't let that put you off the room was part of the old prision so... This hotel is in a great location and in an interesting building (an old prison). We booked a standard double room without breakfast. when we arrived we were told that we could upgrade for £20 due to the hotel being quite empty. This is the first time ever that I have been asked to pay for an upgrade. The receptionist... More

My wife and I stayed at Malmaison for 1 night as part of my 30th birthday weekend and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was in the house of correction area of the hotel, it was very clean and luxurious with everything we'd expect from a high end hotel, including fully stocked minibar that I resisted quite well!! The hotel... More

My girlfriend and I made a last minute decision to get out of London for a relaxing weekend in Oxford and so duly booked up two nights at the Malmaison. The web site photos looked impressive and the location (next to the centre of town) looked perfect for our aim of a chilled out couple of days exploring the famous... More

What a fabulous hotel in every respect. After our first Malmaison visit in Dundee we were looking forward to staying at the Oxford hotel. We were not disappointed. The conversion of the prison into hotel rooms and restaurant is really impressive and quirky. Our room was 3 prison cells, one for the En-suite and the other 2 making up the... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at Malmaison as a post Christmas treat and absolutely loved the hotel, the rooms and the lovely meal we had in the restaurant. However, unfortunately our stay was somewhat soured by the very poor customer service we experienced when checking out. We were shown our receipts and noticed a discrepancy in that we had been...
