We arrived Sunday afternoon and left Wednesday morning. 1 of 2 lifts was out of order for the entire time so waiting for the lift became a real chore as the stairs weren't easy to find. Reception staff friendly but seemed hassled. The residents lounge is great, secluded, comfy sofas and draughts boards etc. Had lovely cocktails Sunday evening but... More

Lovely place for a new experience! Want to say that you have a very good staff. Me and my colleague enjoyed drinks at the bar a lot and also the bar man was very nice and introduced a new cocktail (Pimms) to us, unfortunately do not remember his name but from now on that cocktail is our favourite. Check in... More

What an incredible opportunity to take a peek inside an ex prison. My expectations were completely succeeded as I was expecting an old building, perhaps with some bars on the windows for authenticity, but wow, completely blown away by the place. The way they've retained so many original features but turned it into a prison you actually want to spend... More

Nice to stay somewhere a bit different, Poppy on reception gave us a great service throughout the stay. Service a little slow in the restaurant for dinner but food was fine. Found the bed to be a bit hard and the room a bit stuffy due to lack of windows!

We stayed here for our anniversary. We had a superior cell (117), comfy bed, nice finishing touches, gorgeous bathroom, massive shower and roll top bath. The room was very dark, added to the atmosphere though! Fab romantic setting! We booked dinner in the restaurant there, prix fixe menu, not a bad selection. The continental breakfast, at around £12 per head,... More

Although the hotel is unique and different to most you will stay in they do charge a lot for the privilege £300 per night b&b is top end .The room was nice and had a very large bathroom, however not having hot water is a disadvantage they did send somebody to repair it quickly however this took 40 mins and meant... Had a superb stay in a superior cell room. Lovely bathroom with roll top bath, huge shower and very comfortable room. Really quirky experience to stay in a former prison but fascinating and different.

I am not one to complain on trip adviser I am all about honesty.....that's why I'm disappointed to have to be a little on the negative side for what was hoped to be a fantastic stay at Malmaison Oxford.... Ok so it was a recovery break package we booked and an upgrade to experience staying in a cell room..... This... More

Visiting Oxford on business, this hotel was booked by the local office. Reception were able to help with all sorts of logistics. The rooms on the top floor in converted cells are certainly unique but still modern and cosy. A plentiful spread at breakfast includes continental or cooked options. All the staff were friendly and helpful, quickly sorting a minor... More
