We went for the Aussie themed food and range of beers. When we went, though, on a Saturday lunchtime there was only 1 beer on with lagers and ciders. By the time we left there were 2 beers on tap. We had 2 excellent bean burgers and the boys had a kangaroo burger and crocodile strips. The 'roo burger comes... More

I stayed in a clean, warm and quite spatious room for an acceptable price. The bed was comfortable and the electric appliances were in work order. I appreciated the bathrobe provided as well as the complimentary breakfast (cereals, croissant, milk, jam, coffee). The communal bathroom was also clean. The room could do with a table and a renovation though. I... More

DO NOT BOOK A STAY AT THE KITE INN. They will take the money from your account BEFORE your stay, and when, checking-in, I asked them about this policy I was met with an incredibly aggressive response. To the extent that, I had three members of staff surrounding me and intimidating me just like louts at a football match do.... More

The Kite Inn is an old pub with a few rooms above it. It is a low price (which is always welcome) though the room was very cold (a second blanket was provided, thankfully). The bed wasn't as comfortable as I'd hoped, but that may just be personal taste. The room was clean and everything in it worked (lamp, tv,... More

I stayed at The Kite Inn due to the relatively high rating on TripAdvisor coupled with a low price. I can't really recommend this place. The room was cold, the floor slanted noticeably so that the door did not properly align with the door frame. No complimentary soap was provided for the communal bathroom. The table lamp did not work.... More

In all the years I've been going to pubs, I've never witnessed a member of bar staff 'front up' to a customer, insisting that they ordered something that they didn't and forcing them to pay for it, yet this is exactly what happened last night in this pub. Absolutely outrageous! At first I really thought they were joshing my friend... More

This back-street pub in a residential street, recently renovated and now run by friendly Australians, is well worth a visit. There are usually three ciders and half a dozen real ales on, and the food is worth a detour. It's basically a local's pub which is very welcoming. I've been in twice this week - the first time on my... More

Recently taken over by a lovely Australian family. The decor is great and very tastefully done. A very good range of well kept beers and an excellent range of wine and ciders. A great welcome when you walk in and a very fairly priced menu. The food was well cooked and promptly served. Excellent value for money. Better than other... More

I happened to be at the Kite for an overnight stay when the person who posted a review "avoid at all costs" caused a stink. he was the most obnoxious guest, loud, rude and abusive not only to the manager, but fellow guests and patrons, so I think it is fair to put the record straight. As fay as I'm... More

Revisited on my annual pilgrimage to Oxford. New management and a fresh refurb - Still an excellent friendly locals pub with 5 ales and 3 ciders on draught in good condition (Cask Marque). Food menu with lots of choice at good prices (I had the mixed grill at 8.95). BT wifi worked well. Worth seeking out. Handy for boaters on... More
