Recent reviews have been poor. I stayed here 3 nights and did not bother to check previous reviews. Room 24 seemed fine to me, small double but clean and with a hot shower. Very central location. £242 for 3 nights. I have no complaints.

This is the dirtiest, grubbiest hotel I have ever entered. I have no idea when the place was cleaned last, but my guess would be months if not longer! Everything was stained, bathroom was filthy. Staines in the toilet and sink and shower was covered in mildew. It might be a good central location, but I would not recommend anybody... More

We stayed 1 night in this "hotel". It's dirty, loud, but right in the heart of the city. I would not recommend it though. We had breakfast in our rooms, as they don't have a diner. Breakfast was basically nothing as you can imagine.

We had booked this for its location and the website looked good. We checked out the room when we arrived and decided we could not stay in such a disgraceful accommodation BUT was charged the full price. DO NOT TRUST PHOTOS ON WEBSITE.

As other reviews have stated, the location is probably the only thing going for this hotel. It is very central and great to use as a base when out and about. The beds were comfortable enough and there were toiletries, towels, and coffee making facilities which were all fine. The staff were also polite enough and helpful. The bad points:... More

Stayed one night. Not user friendly for aged or disabled. Reception on first floor up narrow steep stairs. No lift or disabled facitities. Room dirty with two broken panes of glass. No air - con therefore had to have windows open. Above a night club which was noisy until early hours. Shower had mould around base and wall. Hot water... More

Superbly situated directly opposite the "New Theatre" which was the reason for our visit. However having no lift, the climb up four flights of stairs carrying hand luggage was a bit much for us in our seventies. The room was adequate and clean but the bathroom could have done with some TLC. This hotel is probably the noisiest hotel we... More

Not a bad deal booked online. You get what you pay for. Location was 5 Star. The parking deal was 5 Star. The staff were 5 Star. Decorating was on-going. The average rating given is solely due to the room being 'adequate', but it's only a place to lay your head for a few hours and the power shower was... More

Stayed for 4 nights at Victoria House, right in the city centre. The place is rather old and this place is nothing for couples or people with demands. No elavator, tiny steep stairs, not very easy with kids. Smoking alarm went on twice while I was there. Staff is friendly. Next to the door is night club but you can't... More

I stayed here for one night mid-week as I was visiting Oxford for a course. The best thing is the location, it is very central and within easy reach of local amenities. But please do not stay here just because it is centrally located. The entrance and hallways were dirty. The staff weren't rude but they didn't make me feel... More
