1) The hotel was not air conditioned. This made it nearly impossible to sleep. 2) Our dinner party of twelve were scheduled to have dinner at 8:00 p.m. in the Cotswold Lodge. My wife and I arrived in the dining room at approximately 7:45 p.m. Our remaining tour mates arrived at around 8:15 p.m, but none of us received our... More

This a 3 star hotel not the 4 star that they claim; the double room was filled with the double bed with no room left. The closet (wardrobe) was barely 6 inches deep which meant clothes had to hang stacked front to back. Cobwebs were hanging from the curtains and there was a lack of toiletries apart from a small... The hotel is well maintained and it is very comfortable. The staff are very helpful and do their best to assist (although one has to repeat one's request in the restaurant due to some forgetful staff). It does get crowdie during the weekend for breakfast as the space in the restaurant is limited. Do not choose the continental breakfast as... More

It's a pleasant walk from the Cotswold Lodge into the heart of Oxford, and also on a main bus route for the weary traveller who prefers public transport. Also near to the Jericho district with some lovely bars, restaurants and shops. The room we had was comfortable, but a little too floral for our taste, and was roomy without being... More

Some of the reviews aren't very complimentary. We found nothing to complain about. The Twin room cost us £115 for a Saturday night stay with breakfast included. It's a mid-sized hotel with ample private parking very close to the city centre. There are plenty of staff, the breakfast was more than adequate but not luxuriant. The rooms were 'cosy' rather... The hotel is in a nice building in a quiet area. It takes you 10-15 min to walk to the city centre. You will find some nice restaurants just outside the hotel. The room was very nice and tidy. The breakfast was nice. Very crowdy on the weekend which made the breakfast service very slow. On the weekends they should... More

I stayed 5 nights in August (a bit hot). Pros: - large rooms - friendly staff - pleasant 10-15 min walk to town - very nice bathroom and bathroom fittings - very well cleaned. Cons: - very very bad bed (mattress must have been at least 15 yrs old). I had to sleep on the precipice in the middle of... More

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights to celebrate my husband's BIG birthday. We took the discover Oxford package which was very good value. Afternoon tea, evening meal and breakfast. Also included was a 2 day ticket for the sight seeing bus. All in all it was a really good offer and we enjoyed our stay very much.

Sorry, don't be put off by the description, meant in the nicest way.Relaxing lounge/bar,with huge sofas and deep cushions, and attentive staff.Restaurant has relaxing ambience, just what's needed after a hard day sight seeing in Oxford.Breakfasts a bit on the small side but well presented.Main meals ditto. You could opt for the Indian Restaurant,or two pubs, just across the road, which is what we did!!Public areas spotlessly... I know independent hotels have a lot to compete with, which is why I stayed here. However at around £200 a night this is a complete rip-off. The rooms are hot as hell in the summer months with only a small fan provided, breakfast is very small at around £10 a head for a fry up and service at breakfast... More

Cotswold Lodge is an independent 4-star hotel located in a conservation area within walking distance from Oxford’s historic city centre. Visitors are assured of a warm welcome and a highly professional level of service, whether they are popping in for a coffee, meeting someone for lunch, staying at the hotel or hosting an event. The elegant Victorian building combines period features such as bay windows, high ceilings and open fireplaces with all the facilities required by today’s business and leisure travellers, including secure wireless broadband internet access. All our guest rooms offer a good level of comfort and privacy. Our ten feature rooms are named after Oxford colleges and retain the distinctive architectural features of the original building. Restaurant 66 has a modern, fresh design and an acclaimed menu. We also have a welcoming bar, charming terraces, a spacious drawing room and a Mediterranean-style courtyard garden. The Norham Suite is the ideal venue for business meetings, private dining functions and special events such as weddings, birthdays and parties.
