Stayed here at a weekend for two nights as part of a car enthusiast rally. Somewhere in there is an old coaching Inn but you'd be pushed to find it. Decor is tired and shabby. First surprise - having to pay in full for accommodation on arrival! I've often been asked for a card swipe but never a full payment!... More

Shocking! I don't know where to start - the rooms are shabby, the fittings damaged, electrical appliance (PAT) tests are out of date, beds are rock hard, cobwebs in room. No offer to carry luggage to room, ours was up two flights and along long corridors from reception. The hotel is on a busy crossroads and traffic noise is intrusive,... More

Arrived back at the hotel at 9.30 pm after a long day to be told that the dining room was closed. I asked what time it closed and was told 9.30 pm? I asked reception to ring for a Taxi to take me to Woodstock so that we could eat. They asked me if I had a number for a... More

Stayed one night over a weekend, and was really disappointed. £109 for a double room does not represent value for money at the Holt. The room itself was a good size, and on first look seemed clean enough - however, on closer inspection, it was not. There was a spillage of sorts still up the wall by the bed, and... More

Stayed there on Friday night. I use it a lot but this time a superior room. Lock broken on loo door, would not stay closed. Cobwebs galore. Bedspread completely worn out. Needs painting. Broken window. Evening meal, whitebait over cooked. Steak ok but chips undercooked. Dining room unavailable again! No hot breakfast until 0800 but I went to collect butter... More

We spent 4 nights at The Holt as part of a coach holiday after the original hotel we were booked in went into receivership. Initial impressions were good, it is an attractive Cotswold stone structure - greatly extended 17 Century coaching inn. Our allocated room was 76 on the ground floor but what seemed miles away as it was in... More

Stayed overnight, reasonably priced rooms. Friendly staff, pleasant surrounding gardens and good looking building from exterior. Breakfast was acceptable. Interior is outdated in areas but not a major issue. Beds are solid, if you need a soft bed to sleep then do not stay- I slept little. Thin walls, neighbouring room were very loud and heard most of conversations in... More

Have stayed at this hotel this weekend and despite reading the previous reviews and with a certain amount of apprehension because of these would have to say that we were pleasantly surprised. Yes, it all needs updating, but the staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble and the room was clean and the bed reasonably comfortable so could... More

Where do I start! It was dingy dark and very unattractive inside. On arrival reception took the payment for the room and our room. We had to carry our bags up this dingy dark staircase. The carpets were thread bare. Our room stunk of smoke, the bath had a collection of hairs in it. Windows were dirty and bed needed... More

Stayed overnight as a convenient location for a visit the next day. The hotel is very much in need of a refurbishment. Threadbare carpets, wall paper peeling off the wall etc. It was redeemed by a very nice dinner, well served and very reasonably priced. Staff were variable in temperament, but basically nice. Loads of free parking!
