We decided to stop at this hotel for a couple of days, on the spur of the moment. We wanted somewhere out of Oxford and also near Bicester. We arrived quite late on in the day, and we're not happy with the room we were shown. Nothing could be too much trouble for them. We were given a new room,... More

After an absolute horrific first hotel we did a quick bit of googling and found The Holt. We rang them at 9pm asking for a room so we could escape the other hotel and the staff member (Aaron) told us everything we needed to know (prices, directions etc.), so we got a refund from the house of horrors and headed... Stayed for one night in a twin-bedded room. Positives: overall good value for what you get; easy to find; big, free car park; large room; pleasant and well-organised staff especially at breakfast. Negatives: tired and dated decor, beds a bit hard. The hotel clearly needs some investment to upgrade the interior, but an OK stop-over.

Although the interior is a little tired, it was clean and comfortable. The staff at reception and dining room were extremely helpful. The chef prepared delicious meals at a reasonable price and the bar meals had very generous portions. All in all we spent a very comfortable time here and wouldn't hesitate to go again.

What a strange experience this hotel was. It's part modern, part ancient coaching inn with a history of hauntings and highwaymen. The room was extremely old fashioned but in a sort of 70's faded way. It was clean, however. The staff appear very newly employed and several of them were rather odd - asking unusual questions etc - although they... More

Booked in for a two night stay in a deluxe double room costing £198 b&b, had to pay in full before seeing the room(now we know why!) Grotty is a generous description. The most uncomfortable bed we have ever had to sleep in with blankets you wouldn't want your dog to sleep on. Breakfast was basic and thats being kind!!!... More

This is a good-looking, traditional English hotel. A handy place to stay for weddings at Tythe barn. The help-yourself breakfast is good, especially the sausages. Unfortunately the rooms aren't the best; pokey, dim-lit, hot, old-fashioned & noisy. The Ensuite was fine, with bath & shower. With a bit of modernising, this hotel could easily be a luxurious getaway to the... More

We have been back to this hotel having visited a few weeks ago and we were not disappointed. The hotel is in need of a bit of updating as before, but everything is adequate for a good stay. The food is excellent and the staff are always helpful and very accommodating. Arron on reception is always polite, friendly and extremely... More

We were looking forward to a 2 night stay whilst attending a family function nearby. This accommodation had been suggested to us and all our family and friends were staying there, so we had no need to 'shop around' When we first first pulled into the car park it looked nice, we should have stayed in the car park! The... More

Rock hard bed, (with a spider in our bed when pulling back the sheets) cobwebs everywhere, staff rude and not helpful at all. Complained about our room and although they didn't move us did give us a 3 course meal on the house. Staff are rude.
