this was my first hostel experience. my wife and i usually stay in hotels and inns. this trip was all 'guys' and booked by my brother-in-law. overall, a very good experience. there were five of us travelling so we booked the six-bed room. clean, modern. great staff, felt very safe. had to pay extra for internet - should be included....... Despite some very critical reviews, we decided to book the yh in Oxford for a night. We are a family of five and had a room for us. After all, this is a youth hostel, and I think, it's one of the better ones... If you go to a youth hostel, please don't expect a 4 Star hotel. But we... More

Quite a walk from town center though. Too many stairs to the building and rooms. Too many group bookings creating noise, occupying toilets and common lounge seats with kids that scream, giggle and fool around in their rooms at night. Very expensive inflated price on the weekends. That's because they're always full, thus never a good night's rest, because your... More

Overall, this was a good hostel. BUT there were a few things that caught me off guard which probably wouldn't have upset me as much if I had been made aware of them. The thing I had to remind myself was: this is a very cheap price for the location. * No free wifi; the wifi you pay for is... More

Having read the reviews I was prepared for the worst but was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very pleasant and efficient and the public areas - lounge, library and reception - clean and welcoming. Our room for four overlooked Oxford and was adequate for our needs. Bed linen was clean and fresh and there was storage for our bags. The... More

Having travelled to Oxford with a whole group of students, this was an ideal place to stay the night. The rooms were big enough for everybody, the bathroom was clean and there were enough "spare toilets" ;) Breakfast ther is delicious. You can enjoy a typical English breakfast, which will stuff you. You'll be good to go 'till 4 PM.... More

When we arrive at the hotel, the lobby is not big enough to accommodate me with 51 person... The receptionist is nice and really help.. but the policy of the room key is quite annoying.. we have to pay 5 pound if losing the key.... the bedroom so so... the bed itself so so.... the breakfast average ... the best... We had the worst nights sleep we've ever had here. We were woken up early in the morning by the partying, loud rows, racial chanting and constant banging by the group of men in the next room. After a couple of hours we gave up, packed our bags and left. The walls are paper thin. There is only one member... More

Overall, this is a perfectly adequate hostel. It is centrally located. The staff is really helpful and very nice. I found it to be quite clean. However, the place is loud! The windows are cheap and there is a local bar with a party scene. It doesn't really seem to dim the noise to close the windows. You will also... More

Thank you for your review of the hostel. We're really sorry to hear that you found the room noisy during your stay. It's rare that the local bars this side of the train station get very busy or noisy - the party scene is back on Park End Street and it's unusual that we ever hear any noise from our... More
