The restaurant a real let-down. Food expensive and not well cooked. We chose the duck which was almost un-chewable and the meal did not even include a selection of vegetables, only beetroot and one potato on the plate. For the cost we did expect a satisfying meal which this certainly was not. A very small and poor meal. The service... More

This hotel is very old with extremely quirky nooks and crannies, We stayed in a room that surely at one time had been an attic, but it had been very comfortably converted giving us a large comfortable bedroom with all mod cons. A superbly fitted bathroom and a quite large sitting room with one large TV viewed from the couch... More

The Bear and Ragged Staff is a Grade 2 Historic Country Inn, and well does it deserve that distinction. We stayed here a few weeks ago: myself, my husband, and a couple of relatives. Our room was in the Old Cottage Wing which was reached by steps from the car park. It was comfortable as well as being light and... More

Stayed here for one night clean and tidy room. The meal we had that night was excellent and a very high standard. The breakfast was also very good with a lot of choice. There was some noise early evening but that is what you expect when you are staying at an Inn.

Stayed here for one night with my friend for my birthday. Very impressed with room which was spotlessly clean and well appointed. Lovely tasteful decor although the small window overlooking the road didn't have a curtain. Not sure why? I also booked a king size ensuite room but the bed was a double one which was disappointing. However it was... More

We were fortunate enough to secure a room for 1 night over the August bank holiday period and would most certainly be looking to return at some stage in the not to distance future. Parking facilities on site were great, staff were all very welcoming and friendly and accommodating. Food was fresh and well cooked & the breakfast was full... More

Very helpfull and warm welcome for our couple arriving there without any reservation during summer holidays ... Mention spéciale : delicious food with local products : un régal ! Warm atmosphere and cozy room, a typical and charming countryside address. We would love to come back.

The second last day of our Thames Path walk brought us to The Bear. The room was excellent, spacious and very comfortable. But the food was especially great. We had read reviews of the food and we weren't disappointed. The menu is extensive but very creative, and after a week of pub menus, this one made us want to stay... More
