Staying for a weeks business and it was a comfortable stay, the outside of the hotel and location seems to indicate something better than you are going to get. A nice location, friendly welcome and good service. Breakfast was variable, sometimes there was a very good selection, sometimes not. Often the salmon was not available and other to-order choices. The... more

Just returned from a lovely weekend at the Upper Reaches. We booked through late rooms and paid £80 for bed and breakfast which we believe represented great value for money. The hotel is in a stunning location and the perfect place to spend a Summer’s day (shame the sun wasn’t shining!). The hotel was nicely decorated with an attractive restaurant... more

I have so much to say I don't know where to start. I have been to this hotel several times before but I had my wedding reception here and the hotel and staff especially Kim gave me and my husband the best wedding ever. The hotel is absoulately gorgeous from the rooms to the river to the millwheel in the... more

This was the 2nd time of having stayed at The Upper Reaches for business, giving them a 2nd try after the 1st was over-shadowed by remodelling work. Sadly the remodelling hasnt brought this hotel up to date, with the rooms feeling very 80s in style. There is hot water but expect to wait for it to come through and then... more

I booked the Upper Reaches for one night and, having paid £150, I expected a nice, comfortable room. On arriving, I was quickly checked in and was happy to find my room was huge, with a balcony bed and a sofa bed. The bathroom was a nice size and had a decent shower. Even room service breakfast was included. "Perfect"... more

Having gone to great lengths to find a hotel halfway between ourselves and friends this fitted the bill. When we booked we asked to book a table for dinner, but was told it was full. Having experinced a hotel telling us they had no record of us booking we rung to confirm, and again asked if there had been any... more

I made my booking online. I checked in with my booking reference was made to sign my checking in form and was given the keys. I unpacked and went out for dinner. When I returned my room had been cleared, the Police had been called (but left without any charges or having spokento me!) and I was accused by the... more

This hotel is in a great location, right on the river yet still in town. What a shame the owners don't appreciate it a bit more - with some love it could be a gem. Having a mill wheel is not enough to wow guests these days. The decor is dated, the common areas dull and the ambience limp. I... more

Spent a night here 18th February. Wanted a romantic country break and I was pleased with our choice. The location makes this hotel special - near the Thames, and despite being steps from the centre of Abington it felt secluded. We had a double room (lowest cost option), not luxury and a bit dark (just one small window) but everything... more

We stayed at the Upper Reaches for 2 nights in January on a dinner, bed & breakfast rate in one of their Executive Doubles. We had a great room (#43)with double doors leading out to a little garden directly on the banks of the Thames. This made up for the fact that the room decor was slightly dated. Nevertheless the... more
