Stayed here for the night after having a fun shopping day at Bicester Village. The hotel has a few parking spaces and if you upgrade your room you get one which is worth it because it's very expensive to park in Oxford The bar itself is very welcoming and had a lovely open fire going which made it look so... We often stay in Oxford, and having already spotted The Head of the River, we were looking forward to our overnight stay. The pub/hotel is in a wonderful location and the rooms are imaginatively and creatively decorated. Breakfast came in the price, and portions were generous. However, the negatives far outweigh the positives: * The room was tiny - really,... More

We stayed here for one night on a spur of the moment get away. We called to reserve a parking space as their website suggested and this was organised for us. The pub itself is lovely and homely and it's position on the river is great. A ten minute amble takes you right into the centre of Oxford. We had... More

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting Oxford for work. The room was on the top floor and looked quite cool. The floor was really creaky and was sure to be disturbing people below. The bathroom was in need of some work, tiles were a bit mouldy in the corners and the bath panel was cracked. The shower/bath dripped all... More

The saving grace for this stay was the staff and their attitude. They were great. But: The advertised trip advisor 10% wasn't honoured. The shower in the room was broken and very noisy like there was an air leak in the system. There was no tea or coffee facility in the room which is bonkers for somewhere charging £130 a... More

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in September. Loved the hotel/pub. Claudia and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Although our room was not on the river side, it was very comfortable, clean, and quiet. The included breakfast was fabulous. Sitting on the patio having a beer in the afternoon following a day of... The hotel was in a great location. The pub was rustic. Our room was cosy fresh bathroom. Bed was so comfortable! The staff were great, the manager was charming and anya a polish girl gave lent us her own iron as the others were in use. Room service very efficient. Didn't stay for dinner but menu looked delicious. Breakfast was... More

Our family stayed here last Saturday. For the cost it should have been better. Staff were fine and friendly but the whole place is a bit run down; the furniture well past the sell-by date. AND no tea-making facilities in the bedrooms. Staff told me that this has been a constant complaint for years...so why on earth don't the owners... More

We stopped at The Head of the River for two nights to explore the city of Oxford and see the haunts of Inspector Morse & Lewis. This was the perfect location at the side of the Thames and next to Christchurch Meadows. Just a short walk into the centre, perfect location. Parked on site and booked a superior room, very...
