Just stayed for one night(Sunday) and have to say it met all expectations! Great Location( it's major selling point)and lovely old inn! Good selection of Fullers ale on draft and bottled. Room was clean, bed was comfy and nice shower! Breakfast good with nice selection of egg dishes! Guess price for room could be questionable but Oxford ain't cheap and... More

We called here for a refreshing drink, and whilst we found the waterside seating was ok, the 'garden' was a little untidy and needed a bit of tlc. The service was good but £12 for 2 lemonades, a small bottle of water and a pint of London Pride was expensive.

Our Oxford friends brought us here for Sunday lunch. I would have preferred one of the outside tables overlooking the Thames as the weather was perfect. The courtyard is large and sits right on the water at Folly Bridge. The pub was full of happy chatting patrons, which was a good sign. The menu was interesting and there were several... More

This is a busy pub at Folly Bridge, where the Thames becomes narrower. We went there on Sunday evening; everyone was outside, enjoying the mild air and the view of the river. I felt it was a bit too noisy, but since we had come up the river in a boat, it seemed the logical place to eat. Fish &... More

We stayed at the head of the river in Oxford as part of a treat organised by my Brother the day after our Wedding. It is well located and the check in process was quick and informative. The rooms are spacious, well presented and ours has a lovely view of the river. There was complementary beers and bottled water as... More

We arrived with a very tired toddler & looking for a quick dinner. Within minutes the wonderful waiter (Antonio) cheered up our wee grandchild & had given her a toy to keep her amused while we waited. Our burgers were very tasty & they had provided an off menu meal for the toddler. Nothing was a bother. We sat outside... More

Lets start with bad points first - We booked The Head of the River for my birthday last week, I don't normally take much notice of bad reviews and I don't like to make a bad review either. However, a few people had mentioned squeaky floors and I thought for goodness sake its an old building, but my god between... More

We booked this hotel for one night while attending a live music event at Joe's Cafe Bar on the Woodstock road three miles away. Good stuff first, the location of the Head of the River is just excellent. It nestles on North bank of the Thames between the main Abingdon Road and Christchurch meadows. The extensive terrace if brilliant for... More

We booked in with friends, booking too rooms in this 12 bedroom Fuller hotel/pub/eatery. The website sold a great looking hotel in the perfect position. So far so good! The reception at the bar worked well and we were shown to our room, still good. The room was well designed air conditioned and roomy. But then the the lack of... More

Stayed here on a number of occasions over the last couple of months. Very nice hotel. Convenient location. Lovely setting and atmosphere as right next to the river with a lively (but far from loud) environment in the pub garden. Would like the rooms to be a bit cleaner, specifically the windows with the high number of cob webs around... More
