Very relaxing rural retreat with everything you would expect from a good small hotel. Totally unpretentious. Friendly, relaxed with bar, restaurant, gardens and parking. Good sized room for a family with clean decoration. Would certainly recommend to anyone who wants an old style, character, independently run property within easy reach of Oxford. more

The food both in the bar (which they cooked for us even though we arrived after the official serving time) and at breakfast was excellent. Generous portions of tasty English fare to suit everyone - the black pudding and the vegan breakfast hit the spot equally well. Our room was definitely what you'd call 'quaint'. Though not overly-spacious with the... more

The hotel is in dire need of refurbishment. Thread bare carpets, nicotined stained curtains, rock hard pillows and beds. Over priced for what you get. The only plus is the friendly owners and good bar food. This hotel isa throw back to the late 70's and early 80's. more

The best of British. A charming faulty towers with a real Basil of their own called Roger. The bar is fantastic with a great selection of obscure spirits and foreign bar staff. The rooms are clean and tidy with modern decor and amenities(room 26 is the best). The location is great for visiting both Oxford and Abingdon. more

Stayed just one night in September and was not expecting big things....after this was £55 B&B in Oxfordshire! However I was pleasantly suprised! The hotelier was friendly and charming and checking in was very simple. The room I had allocated (21) was large and comfortable, with a nice big firm bed and plenty of pillows. Nice little personal touches like... more

Motor racing themed bar nice. Food prices suitable for Formula 1 driver as well. Found a pub walking distance down the road with similar food for a THIRD the price! I did feel it was a significant achievement to fit so much - desk, internet access, wardrobe and a bed as well - into a storage cupboard, but that's the... more

Excellent welcome, nice staff, beautiful garden. My only reproach is that the Internet access in the bedroom is quite slow. more

Stayed in a twin room with my daughter - beds disappointing as they were decidedly lumpy! The staff were friendly and were upset that we'd booked online as we'd have gor a better deal booking directly. Free online access but the night we were there, it didn't work! No doubt we could have got things sorted out but we were... more
