I was in Oxford on business in April and had been booked in at the MacDonald Randolf hotel. I heard about the fire at that property a mere two weeks before departure and had to scramble to find alternate arrangements for that portion of my stay in Oxford. I contacted a number of hotels and the Royal Oxford was able... More

Nice and clean hotel a bit outside Oxford city (close to the railway station). Really spacious rooms with big and well equipped bathrooms and great beds. Not the best breakfast, but at least it was included in the price. Not the best area in Oxford, and despite being only a few hundred meters from the city centre you feel you... More

The hotel was in an excellent location for access from the station and for walking into Oxford. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was wonderfully cool and airy. We appreciated fruit, biscuits, toiletries etc. that were replenished daily

I booked this hotel 3 months in advance. I was told there was no lift so I stressed that I required a room on the first floor near to the stairs. I have joint problems and find stairs difficult. The hotel looks very run down from the outside and is in need of updating inside. I arrived to find I... More

We stayed here for three nights to visit friends at Nuffield College. The hotel is within sight of the train station and about a 10 minute walk from the Gloucester Green bus station. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the central pedestrian only area of Oxford, and about 5 minutes walk to get to the Thames path... More

This is the third hotel we have now used in Oxford and The Royal is very average, if that. Needs complete overhaul as feels very dated. Be warned there is no lift so if you have mobility problems this certainly isn't the place for you. The hotel is very clean and beds comfortable. The receptionist pointed out we had requested... Travelling by train, our main reason for choosing this hotel was the location close to the railway and bus stations and would choose again unless travelling by car. For most cities would be considered expensive but good value for Oxford!

Friendly and helpful staff made us like this hotel from the beginning. Our room was large and well furnished, and best of all - quiet. Little extras, water, biscuits, mints, in the room were very appreciated. Nice breakfast available. Convenient to all the Oxford sights.

The staff are simply brilliant, attentive, obliging and thoughtful. It is a great location so convenient to everything Oxford has to offer. Fruit and bottled water each day are a bonus! I had a quiet room away from the road and it was perfect.

A real gem of a hotel and reasonably priced for Oxford. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff that couldn't do enough for us. The room was simple but comfy. The only downside is thr traffic and people noise through the night but such is life with a city centre hotel. Would certainly stay here again.

Dear Madam Thank you very much for your lovely review and I am glad you had enjoyed your stay with us despite the street noise at night. As you would have noticed we have a specialist double glazing in all the hotel bedrooms as well as air-conditioning, therefore there is no need to have the windows open at night or... More
