Contrary to the listing information, there is no elevator. Ground floor is up one flight of exterior stairs; we were on the second ("first") floor. We chose this accommodation because it supposedly had an elevator, so we both were in extra pain from climbing two double flights of stairs. Bed was dirty. The notion of duvets instead of sheets is... More

As with all the other reviews of the Wayneflete accommodation (part of Magdalen College), I add my own disappointment at the very poor quality of this accommodation. The University unfortunately seems to care little about giving its customers a good standard of lodging as it is probably vastly oversubscribed, but friends staying in Queens College over this weekend were equally... Assuming you want the full Oxford 'experience', be sure to book rooms in the main building and not in Waynflete, which is a separate, modern block just over the river. Cheaper, but without any of the atmosphere. We had a rather mixed time at Magdalen, having booked 3 single rooms for an overnight stay on a cycling trip. First we... More

We stayed here for two nights during a conference we were organising in the college. Our accommodation was in the newer Grove Building and, as a couple, we had a twin bedded room (most rooms in the college are of course singles). All the rooms in the Grove Building are ensuite and the accommodation was what you would expect in... More

Booked a night in the Waynflete building whilst visiting Oxford what a let down. I can't imagine what the poor students think when they arrive at such an establishment considering some of them are from wealthy families and others would pay a high price to study and stay at such a well known college. Surprised there is no preventative maintenance... More

I booked a room at Magdalen because my friend who was getting married went to this college. When I checked in at the college "porter", they handed me some keys and informed me that I was staying in a building across the bridge from the rest of the college (the beautiful part), in a modern building and, not a joke,... spent the night in one of the inner quad twin rooms on a weekend with friends in Oxford, rooms that truly demonstrate life as an undergraduate probably for hundreds of years. Going into the newer rooms on the high street the other side of the bridge (Wavleigh) will NOT give you anything like the same experience so only do that... More

Rooms are very basic. Especially the furniture is in dire straits . Also there is no tv. On the other hand the college is exquisite nostalgic history rich passages reminding on student times. Personnel (often students living and also working in the college) is extremely friendly and helpfull. But bottom line no value for money (night rate).

We - Three seniors - stayed in student rooms in the Quad ie inside the walls, of Magdalen College, Oxford in August 2012.Very beautiful college buildings and grounds. On the High Street so right in the heart of the city. The rooms are very basic ( furniture and fittings very old and well used and scruffy.) There is a fridge... More

Single room, shared bathroom, no sink in room (yet description on website says “most have sinks”). Mini-fridge (not sure it’s working well; it’s not very cool). Wi-fi included (unsecured). Mirror. Enough electrical outlets in room. Newish drapes. Room only, no breakfast. No hair-blower in room, but I borrowed one from the Porters’ Lodge. A heater is mentioned in the notes,... More
