This is not a boutique hotel, however, and a big however at that, the beds are very comfortable, our rooms were clean and uncluttered, breakfast was good. The shower wasn't great but allowed us to wash our hair in the morning. For what we paid and what we needed (five friends on a weekend away) it was perfect. It does... More

After arriving at the west gate hotel the manager thought we were getting a deal for £66 a night. (Annexe Room 5) This was not the case!! Infact I wouldn't have let my dog sleep in there. Shower was disgusting and not useable. The room was dingy and grotty with cobwebs and general dust covering the room!! (Reminded me of... More

Great place to stay, thanks to Steve who was looking after the place and made us feel really welcome, a true gent. Accommodation, breakfast, welcome were first class. We will be visiting again. Hope you save some of the Pickerings gin behind the bar for the next trip. Yeah, bad parking, but that's the whole of oxford.

We were unfortunate enough to not have decided on a hotel in advance of our one night stay in Oxford. The only place that we could book was the Westgate Hotel. We found spending the night there very uncomfortable mainly because of the uncleanliness of the place. The building is very dirty and poorly maintained. In fact, when we were... More

We were in room 12 and would request NOT to get this room! It was very old, grubby, stank of cigarettes and right across the road from the railway. Having said that, the sheets were white clean and crisp. No lift and very thin stairs, it was a job to get our luggage up there. Breakfast was great, full English... More

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Oxford city centre and with very helpful management. This is ideal if you are spending most of your time out and about. This won't win any interior design awards but may do for full English breakfasts !

Room was dirty and I will attach a picture of it. Headboard was so discoloured that I slept the other way round. Shared toilet (also dirty). Shower on next floor (I didn't even bother!). When arrived was greeted curtly and told my card didn't work. Had to walk to station and withdraw cash (card worked fine). Wasn't shown to room... More

Great location, friendly owner, good value. Room not the biggest or the most beautiful but I thought it was ideal for the purpose (room to crash in not spend time in). Didn't have the breakfast - finished at 9.30 which is a bit early for me on a Sunday.

Stayed in a double room in the main hotel and I like it. Room had a nice street view. . Ok there was some problems(dirty covers and sheets but they changed them after I said) but it was close to city center and train station(just 2 minutes), staff was very heplfull and breakfast was good. So I recommend it if... More

Unfortunately, the room was simply not clean (I mean, not clean at all). It seems as the bed linens haven't been changed for a while and the room had this weird smell. Our room was actually a couple of blocks away from the actual hotel, in a normal apartment building (not in of itself a problem, but had very little... More
