The Talkhouse has only 4 rooms. You hardly get there without driving. It is very exclusive and about 20 minutes’ drive to town. The room is unique but the extractor was a little noisy in the night. This extractor keeps the electricity supply goes on. It has a bar cum restaurant. Fantastic service, beer and great food. Value for money.... More

We stayed in two of the four rooms in the stables situated at the back of the thatched pub. First impressions? Charming, quaint, secluded. My complaints are with the bathroom. The bath is quite high sided with no grip handles so could be a problem for people with accessibility problems. It is also quite narrow so showering was a fight... More

Found this small inn on trip Adviser and it was perfect for our needs, It is situated in a small village outside Oxford, and is perfect for either visiting Oxford, or as in our case an overnight stay heading towards the ferry at Portsmouth. A lovely place and clearly a popular place for locals to eat. good car park. We... More

Booked for a one night stay at The Talk House last night following a ballon trip in Oxford in the morning. It was my husbands birthday so we decided to make an overnight trip of our time in Oxford. The pub is only about 5 miles from Oxford so ideal for site seeing & shopping (Bicester outlet isn't far either).... More

I took my son to the Talkhouse to celebrate his A level results and him getting a place at Cambridge. We had a glass of bubbly each and had a look at the menu. There was a decent choice of starters and mains, well priced, with notes about the sourcing of the ingredients. I ordered tian of Cornish crab and... More

Invariably the write up doesn't match the actual. Not so in this case. The Talkhouse is a GEM no doubt about that. The accommodation had everything you could want. The staff were attentive and so friendly. Food in the restaurant on site is of an excellent standard. Overall an exceptional base for exploring Oxford.

I really like this place. It was an Internet booking cheaper than lots of others in the Oxford area so I must admit to fearing the worst. It had a bar so I just crossed my fingers. Well - after crossing London with 2 train strikes going on, then concluding our business in Surrey, we finally made it to the... More

We dropped in for dinner (on my birthday, as it happens). The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. We were at the late end of their food service but were never made to feel rushed. The food was spectacular. Lovely ingredients, presented with care and flavour. For me the star was the red mullet starter on a beautiful, zingy salad... More

We booked a stay in this perfect little pub. The small room in the converted barn was wonderful and cool and go straight out to the courtyard. The food is wonderful and definitely opt in for the full English breakfast, it is great! The courtyard was a bit noisy, but that was fine it cleared up before we went to... More

We stayed here for two nights after finding it on Booking.com, the pub is owned by Fullers so you have the full range from the brewery. The rooms are a reasonable size and set in the old stables, there is no wifi signal in the rooms or the beer garden. Even struggled to find a signal in the bar and... More
