Invariably the write up doesn't match the actual. Not so in this case. The Talkhouse is a GEM no doubt about that. The accommodation had everything you could want. The staff were attentive and so friendly. Food in the restaurant on site is of an excellent standard. Overall an exceptional base for exploring Oxford.

I really like this place. It was an Internet booking cheaper than lots of others in the Oxford area so I must admit to fearing the worst. It had a bar so I just crossed my fingers. Well - after crossing London with 2 train strikes going on, then concluding our business in Surrey, we finally made it to the... More

We dropped in for dinner (on my birthday, as it happens). The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. We were at the late end of their food service but were never made to feel rushed. The food was spectacular. Lovely ingredients, presented with care and flavour. For me the star was the red mullet starter on a beautiful, zingy salad... More

We booked a stay in this perfect little pub. The small room in the converted barn was wonderful and cool and go straight out to the courtyard. The food is wonderful and definitely opt in for the full English breakfast, it is great! The courtyard was a bit noisy, but that was fine it cleared up before we went to... More

We stayed here for two nights after finding it on Booking.com, the pub is owned by Fullers so you have the full range from the brewery. The rooms are a reasonable size and set in the old stables, there is no wifi signal in the rooms or the beer garden. Even struggled to find a signal in the bar and... More

Great food, comfy sofas, good selection of ciders, wine list. Dog friendly which is great for a country pub, nice seating area outside, which means you can eat in the restaurant, bar or garden, very pleasant place to eat

What a pleasant way to spend a sunny Saturday lunchtime. A welcoming inn with space to sit inside & outside. Good range of food from lite bites, starters to main courses with usual range of desserts; everyone enjoyed their food - well cooked & nicely presented. Good ale & wines too!

We had not book so on the off chance we could get a reasonable lunch in the middle of our walk we tried the place. Plenty of room and pleasantly warm for a cool day. Food ordinary but the fish and chips above average. Steak a bit on the tough side and the veg over cooked. Overall not bad but... More

Stayed one night, chilly, log fires unlit, lacking atmosphere, staff not especially welcoming or amiable . Food average at dinner, no offer of cereals, fruit, choices at breakfast, just what would you like to eat ? ! Disappointing experience.Bedroom clean, but huge draught around the door (curtain would have helped), no blind in the bathroom and it needed refreshing. Adequate as a one night stopover ,but... More

Myself and a friend went for dinner, (it's somewhere I have been yrs before and had great food). We both chose a starter which was ok even if the fish cake was slightly burnt, we both had steak for mains, now this dish comes with chips. I asked if they were homemade and was told yes they were - no... More
