Beautifully run Pub/Hotel. Couldn't fault it for the price. Easy to book on Booking.com. Taxi into centre of Oxford (by local taxi driver Attik) was £14.50 for 25 min journey. Room very tastefully decorated with 'bedknobs & broomsticks' bed. Shower good. Overall impression - very clean, excellent food, friendly staff. Would stay here again.

Just 3 miles from civilisation (Headington) and you are are there, I actually missed the talkhouse and went through the village which was picture book stuff. Finding the talkhouse I was booked in by a very nice lady who took me to my room which was one of 4 in an annexe set just 10m from the pub, the room... More

This is the story of a failed attempt to make a booking, and a rude and dishonest owner. Yesterday evening, at 19.13 to be precise, I made a phone call and spoke to the nice lady who answered the phone. I wanted to book a double room for the following Tuesday night, and a table in the restaurant for four.... More

Nice little pub but not so easy to find. Room was basic but ok, the bed was pretty rickety and the dunny seat was not properly affixed to the toilet. Food was ok in the pub itself and the ber was cold, so we wont complain about that.

Staying in one of the villages around Oxford can be a better alternative than staying in the city. Certainly in summer, you get to enjoy the beautiful english countryside - which is a blessed relief from the peak season tourist craziness that can so often infect the heart of Oxford and make it seem like part of central London. The... More

I don't doubt running a financially viable country pub/B&B is difficult. But this place simply doesn't deliver. The food is just about ok. Perhaps I'm spoilt living in London, but the quality of the ingredients isn't high, and plating it on a trendy(ish) wooden board and serving the coleslaw in a mini Kilner jar shouldn't kid anyone. The room we... More

The hotel is one property with pub. But dont worry, it is quite and felt peaceful. The location, the surrounding nature.. however the room is small, the bed is noisy. Breakfast costs 10 pounds per person, and..it was ok. Wifi available, unfortunately only in the pub, not in room. To see more review of my journey, take a look at... More

We had a Christmas lunch there a few years back and needed to be near the same friends this year for a wedding, so we booked The Talkhouse for a two night stay. We had a pleasant welcome and were shown to one of the "motel" rooms at the back of the rear courtyard. Their own Website describes the rooms... More

We were in our favourite part of England last year OXFORD and our sister in law took us to this gorgeous English pub. We had a really lovely time during our visit with her and we went twice to The TalkHouse for afternoon drinks and after having dinner in Oxford. Both times we really enjoyed the atmosphere and surroundings and... More

The pub is beautiful and in a beautiful location. The food here is awful. We may have got a bad day but myself and my partners food. Starter and main were obviously not fresh. Prawn cocktail as starter was tasteless and prawns were rubbery. The drinks were also not good. How hard is it to make a shandy. My guess... More
