A comfortable but certainly not luxurious guest house in a very central location in Oxford. My deluxe room was at the front of the hotel on the first floor. It was large and comfortable but quite basic. Mismatched furniture and a very small television. Quiet noisy from the street outside at night. The staff were all friendly. The continental breakfast... I stayed here with my boyfriend and for us it was the best place for getting around Oxford. We were central to everything so got to do a lot of sight seeing with the luxury of being able to pop back to our room to change before dinner. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. All of the... More

My daughter and I stayed at The Buttery Hotel in Oxford the middle of July. The hotel is located right in the middle of where anyone would want to be and location, location is what it's all about when I travel. The building was built in 1829 and used as a tailor shop. I would classify it as being in... More

Stayed here for a couple of nights. We found the stairs a challenge with our cases. But the staff took them to our room for us and brought them down when we left. Ask for a room at the back of the hotel if you are bothered by city noise. We stayed at the front with great views of Balliol... More

Had stayed in The Buttery Hotel about 5 years ago and found it excellent, so on a return visit to Oxford it was the natural place to go. It's not really a hotel and not really a B&B but somewhere in the middle. It is showing it's age a little now in the furnishings. They no longer offer a hot... More

This is a terrific hotel/guest house. I had a spacious room (104) for three nights with a fabulous view of Broad Street and gorgeous Balliol and Trinity colleges of the University of Oxford. Official and unofficial city walking tours and ghost tours start from just outside. The official information office for Oxford is just downstairs. The room was big and... More

Room was a bit disappointing, a little worn and in need of some modernisations/ refurbishment. Bed was comfortable. TV was a joke, screen was probably 18´´. What made this visit enjoyable were the two girls in the reception. They were very friendly and helpful (and thanks for the cookie). Try to get a room that doesn´t front the street. There... More

My partner and I have stayed here on various occasions and have never been disappointed. The location simply cannot be beaten - if you want to be in the centre of Oxford. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The wifi could be better and the decor probably needs a bit of an update. But, these are TINY quibbles. We... More

The Buttery Hotel was quite charming and very conveniently located in the middle of town. We booked two rooms, as we traveled with our two adult daughters. Our rooms were very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was amazing! We highly recommend the Buttery Hotel.

over and above! We had To leave early to catch our flight , and mentioned to the front desk our departure time. She asked if we needed anything. We said no, but she asked if we would like apple juice or water. We said ok, and thought she would just leave it at the front desk. A few minutes later,... More
