I had forgotten how steep the stairs are going up to reception! I did manage to carry my own heavy bag up, but they will happily help with bags if you need it. I reserved a “superior double” again this time because I like having a bit of extra room. I got room 104. It’s smaller than the one I... More

The Buttery was great. Best location right in the middle of town. My room was very large and the bed was sooo comfortable. Only downside is that there is not elevator and the very small twisted stairway was not easy to get luggage up and down. Nice breakfast was included at the downstairs café. Very good.

The hotel is right on Broad Street in Oxford, in the centre of the things you're probably in the city to see. The colleges, the libraries, the pubs, and the museums are all within easy walking distance. Even the train station is a walkable distance. If you don't have a car on your journeys, this is the ideal place to... More

Stayed re ebntly for one night . Location ideal for short stopover in Oxford - right in the centre of town so able to bet around on foot easily or the open top bus tour which stops a few yards away. Satff friendly & helpful with luggage as there are a lot of stairs. My room was on 2nd floor... More

Nice family hotel, but not what you expect for the four stars that it supposedly has. The rooms at big and comfortable, but before you get to them you have to climb some pretty steep stairs. I came alone in the evening, and the reception had to buzz me in. They do have a camera that shows who buzzes, but... More

Not impressed really, nice enough room but single glazed windows. We knew it was on a busy street so expected some street noise but never expected single glazing, drew short straw by being on first floor. We were also right opposite (3 metres away) from reception with constant noise. You were not allowed to take your room key with you... More

We only stayed one night but would go again. We had lots of luggage and were on the third floor with no lift but were assisted by staff to take it to the taxi rank. We had a fully equipped clean room with a cot that our son loved. It was clean & very well located in the centre of... More

The Buttery is exceptionally well located in Broad St in Oxford with a magic view of Balliol College from the top floor window. The room I had was right at the top and was well appointed with biscuits, tea making facilities, towels etc; the room had twin beds ( i had booked a double but there had been water leakage... More

Do not stay in room 104. Right next to reception. I could hear the staff chatting, laughing and saying their goodbyes until gone 10pm at night. Also, as they lock the door from 7pm you can hear the doorbell that rings in reception whenever someone wants to get in. This went on until late at night and then started again... More

This review is obviously dire. This guest had highlighted strongly to our receptionist in the morning how dissatisfied she was with her stay. We understand that a good nights sleep is vital to your enjoyment of a stay. Our receptionist stayed late on shift to talk with our night porter who was adamant that the intercom had not buzzed all... More

Wife and I went to Oxford on the weekend. I was pleased with the great location. The views of university collages are spectacular. The room was lovely, spotless and spacious. A fantastic spread to choose from in the morning. Very friendly staff which were very helpful. The finishing touch was the lovely chocolate egg left for us on Easter Sunday.... More
