I booked 1 night here at the last minute and was very pleased with the hostel- it's situated a short 5 minute walk away from the bus station and within walking distance of the city centre and University. The buzzer system/door code is a great form of security and the rooms have lockers with locks available if yours doesn't fit... More

I stayed at Central Backpackers for one week and it felt like home since the first day. The staff and management were always kind, efficient and fun to be around. One of the cleanest hostels I've ever stayed at. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's coming to Oxford, especially to those who are new to this town and... More

Close to the train station and only a short walk from the main city streets. Inside, hostel is rather cramped with small common spaces. Kitchen well-stocked with appliances and utensils though closest supermarket is a five minute walk away. 12-bed dorm has small lockers only and not much room for backpacks. Limited number of bathrooms. Free luggage storage. Overall, it's... More

I stayed here as an interim before moving into a flat in Oxford so avoiding a 4-5 hour a day commute, so anything was better than that. I hadn't expected much from a backpackers hostel but I was pleasantly surprised. The beds were pretty comfy, surprisingly so really I've slept on some right nightmares in hostels over the years.. As... More

I stayed in an 8 mixed dorm and was very happy with my stay. Location of hostel is amazing, there are plenty of places to eat nearby and a few clubs for a good night out - however keep in mind most week nights are student nights and don't allow non-students in! Walk to shops within 10 mins. Room was... More

It was clean, and comfortable. Free wifi that worked well. The beds were really nice to sleep in and everything you need is provided, including earplugs. Free breakfast and kitchen facilities. Although the common room was really small and crowded.

I stayed there for 5 nights and it was great. Recommend to stay there if you visit Oxford by bus. I'll stay there if I go to Oxford in the future, the reasons are as below: 1. Good location: close to bus station & city center is walking distance. 2. Staff: extremely nice & helpful - very willing to help... More

Nice hostel: free wifi and breakfast were great. My favorite thing was the TV room: countless DVDs and VHSes free to anyone at anytime, with really comfy couches. Rooms were small and didn't feel especially clean. Limited bathroom/shower space. The roof bar was really nice but loud in the evenings and made everything smell like cigarette smoke if the windows... More

I have been at this hostel twice to visit a friend that studied there. It was a few years ago I went there last but I can recommend this hostel to anyone visiting oxford. There was a decent kitchen to use and also a nice lounge area, inside and outside.

Hostels are about thrift, sharing, meeting people, and digging in to a locale. This offers all of that. Hostels do not compare to HO-TELS. It's a different mission. That said, I love hostels and I'm an 'old guy' (57). This hostel was filled with young travelers and a few old ones like me (typical ratios) and they are friendly and... More
