I stayed at the Falkland Arms once a week over the space of a couple of months and the rooms, staff and food were all of a very high standard. The building is most historic and has a great vibe. I stayed in 4 different rooms, all different layouts but each with its own charm whilst retaining the overall character.... More

Fifteen years ago the wife and I and another couple travelled up to Newcastle for some revelry with friends up there. After the revelries came to an end, we were faced with a six-hour drive down South as it were. My male colleague, who was doing the driving, spent the whole of the drive fixated with a place called the... More

Highly recommend this pub for its charm, warmth, ambience, food and style. For such an old pub the rooms are very well presented, clean and comfortable. The manager was very helpful and welcoming. Dinner was delightful and the breakfast was way, way better than most. No negatives here.

I stayed at the Falkland Arms as I was involved with a Motor Sport event in the area. It is exactly as one would expect from a pub in the Cotswolds, atmospheric, welcoming and comfortable. The bedroom was delightful with all modern conveniences without having it's ambiance spoilt. The bar had an excellent range of beers and the staff were... More

The moment you step into the Falkland Arms, with its comforting smoky ambiance on a late winter afternoon, you imbibe the bygone era that precariously survives in pockets of Britain -- and especially hamlets like Great Tew. It was just my kind of place, where I sipped, supped, and slept my way through an overnight visit this month. The hospitality... More

The Falkland Arms at Great Tew, Oxfordshire is a fantastic "olde worlde" thatched pub / hotel set in a quintessential English picture postcard village. Even though the building dates from the 16th century the rooms are designed in a very modern fashion. Plus there are so many aspects which are definitely 21st century. Great service, a really wide range of... More

The classic rooms are small but comfortable. Spiral staircase to the rooms, which may not be suitable if you have mobility problems. Dog friendly establishment. Food is great, particularly the Falklands Arms fry up for breakfast. Staff provide excellent service and are vey helpful. If you want an early night, the rooms above the bar can be noisy, but this... Stayed here on 19th February 2014, following a recommendation. Its interesting to see that most of the good ratings for this pub with rooms don't seem to have come from people who have stayed there. Anyway last night I did, food service and quality was fine. Room had two problems. The double bed was just about the most uncomfortable I've... More

I remember when Great Tew was a village lived in by real people who had an honest job and spent the evening in the Falkland Arms playing darts or domino"s. How sad to discover on a recent visit after an absence of many years that that the Range Rover green welly brigade has moved in on mass. Sunday is probably... More

I've being coming to the Falkland Arms for almost 30 years - and in that time while the wonderful chocolate box village of Great Tew has been smartened up beyond recognition, lost its butchers and its Post Office and now acquired a very posh music festival (usually attended by the occasional Prime Minister and Top Gear presenter) the Falkland Arms...
