Book early it's busy for a reason! This really is a traditional pub full of locals & visitors who often stay over in one of the rooms. It's close enough to Oxford for business but in a delightful village you will experience the tranquillity of the countryside. Expect a warm welcome, genuine interest in cooking a meal to suit any... This pub has a fantastic location, friendly staff and fabulous food. Breakfast is very good and varied. The rooms are described as 'luxurious' but my experience would classify these as 'adequate' and our room was very dark with poor light levels from the various low powered lamps. The bathroom was now showing its age and requires a refit. The bed's... More

Popped into The Fa;leland Arms and found it a very nice place, with good service both behind the bar and for food. Cosy atmosphere around the bar and lively too. Food was average. The Soup was very nice & risotto was very tasty, whilst only lukewarm and overcooked. While I do enjoying seeing a dog, I did not enjoy the... More

We had been staying over nearby and the owner of our B and B recommended a visit to Great Tew generally and the pub specifically. She was spot on on both counts. Coming into the village is like taking a step back in time; it is all mellow stone and thatch, but lively and vibrant at the same time. The... More

We stayed here over Christmas and spent three days here. The Falkland Arms is a 16th century coaching inn and it has a great deal of character (in common with a lot of inns in the Cotswolds). Despite many original feature such as stone flag floors in the bar and a thatched roof our room was well furnished and comfortable... More

We paid another visit recently with friends for a post walk lunch and refreshments prior to Christmas 2015. Great venue, wholesome food and a good selection of ales on tap. Whats not to like about that!

This is an old world pub with great old world service. The architecture and history, along with its location in the well preserved village of Great Tew, add to the delight of visiting. The walking trails are varied and in the current mild winter weather, are enjoyable, despite the mud.

Found by chance when not a single parking space was to be found in Woodstock! A beautiful pub with an open fire and good natured dog. I got into a conversation with a lady who always gets there by horse. I had a turkey and cranberry sandwich plus chips with an orange juice.

Went for a pre-Christmas meal with friends - perfect atmosphere, great food, helpful staff - overall a great evening setting us up nicely for the festive season. The pub, with it's welcoming open fire, and great traditional layout is a very welcome change from most modern style places. 'Jackson' the friendly dog is a star!

This pub is a bit out of the way, but it is worth the effort once you get there. There is an oldie world atmosphere to the pub. The food and beer are good and reasonably priced. From the pub there are a number of dog walks and Great Tew is very quaint.
