We were given the keys to room 42 and I had read something about certain rooms here but forgotten which one(s) to avoid, thankfully this was not one! Back of the car parking courtyard, away from the main high street, top a 3 roomed block (rooms 40-42) over the car entrance/exit and with no real direct neighbour, we were happy... More

Room at rear of premises in coachouse. Had to walk in the rain to reception and breakfast. Staff unhelpful and did not have great English. Coffee was cold and sausages were grisseley. Asked about lack of any type of soap in room and was told the delivery was late with a disinterested tone. We had to buy our own. Luckily... More

Booked a family room for an overnight stay on a Saturday in November 2014. As promised on the phone the room had a double bed, sofa bed and z-bed all made up. Payment taken immediately on arrival - in retrospect I wish we'd refused as I would have definitely put up a fuss on departure. Took the kids out to... More

Just returned from a 3 night mid-week break at this lovely town centre hotel (with parking) and would certainly stay again. It's very traditional with a large dining room, small bar and reception area, and small lounge, and separate conference/function rooms. Our room was on the first floor and had a four poster bed but unfortunately because of the footer... More

Quirky traditional hotel. Room had a bath with a hand shower which was unusual . Four poster bed was interesting but the mattress was like a rock so sleep quality was poor.. The breakfast was very good and the staff were very pleasant. Cleanliness was excellent.

We are in our seventies but not infirm nor senile. My wife slipped on decking fell and pulled me down. She had head bruise cut knee and was shaken up. Staff member on fag break saw accident and asked if OK. We said no please get help. last time we saw her! After 20 minutes only help was another client... More

We have stayed here last night. Just an overnight stay as I had a driving experience nearby today. Booked on Booking.com and the price was about the same as you would pay for a guest house but you get so much more! Friendly greeting on arrival and all staff you happen to walk past are smiling and friendly. The room... More

Stayed last weekend, meeting up with friends. Our stay was two nights Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. All the meals had choices and were very good. Staff service was excellent. We have stayed at the hotel a few years ago, but could see some changes ie planting and seating at the back entrance, this being an improvement. We stayed in the... More

The hotel looks very 'olde worlde' on the outside and the inside is 'olde worlde charm meets 1990's decor'. The 'receptionist' was a little brusque and distracted by other things but pleasant enough. She informed us that she had moved us into a room within the main building as opposed to the coach house and this meant our newly allocated... More

Visited to meet up with a group of friends with their families. First thing we noticed was guests were asked to pay for accommodation upon arrival (a little out of the norm!) at this point your are issued with the remote control for TV in your room. Bar staff and bar meals were very good. The breakfast was one of... More
