Had a lovely meal here last night 20/07/14, my Fiance had the Steak & Ale pie, I had the Fish & Chips, neither of us were disappointed. The Pies are the Royal Oaks speciality and boy i can see why. The Landlord & landlady were very friendly and smiley without being overbearing, locals and holidaymakers seemed to be chatting away... More

We found the Royal Oak by accident and it was a wonderful find. John, Janette and Harry make a great team and run a great little pub in a absolutely charming historic village. One of those places you never forget and in some respects looks time has passed it by. Our accommodation was a spotless clean, comfortable room at the... More

I stayed at The Royal Oak in Burford for one night on the evening of Wednesday 2nd July having only booked my room the day before. Upon arrival at The Royal Oak I walked into the bar to a nice warm welcome and I can truly say that upon leaving I felt like a true "local". John and Janette (landlord... More

A wonderful few hours spent in this friendly pub. The new team make you feel very welcome and comfortable as soon as you walk through their door. I ate one of the best roast beef dinners I have had in ages. A very pleasant and relaxing way to pass time on a Sunday afternoon. Would not hesitate to visit again... More

The new people that have taken over this week are great. They are warm and friendly. The atmosphere in the bar was very friendly. We had the calves liver which was really good. Good portion size, hot and tasty.

We came across this pub in 2012 and were immediately embraced by the warm atmosphere, particularly enhanced by the log fire. We liked it so much we returned when holidaying at Burford in 2013 and were not disappointed. We went back there again two weeks ago and had a bit of a shock. Despite 'log fire' being advertised on the... More

After a few nights of local hotel meals in Burford we tried The Royal Oak for a change for dinner. Well, what a hidden treasure it turned out to be!!! We both chose the pie --- and what a result!!!! Piping hot food. The plate was full with the most excellent pie (..pastry all round..) which was tasty and plentiful.... More

We both had the pulled belly pork and apple flavoured sauce served with an attractive selection of fresh green vegetables. This was delicious and extremely well presented. The pub was welcoming and attractive situated just off the main street in Burford. The hosts were attentive and friendly. This meal was well worth the cost. Will recommend to other friends in...
