The owners were welcoming and friendly. The room and facilities were very clean and the bed was so comfortable. The decor was a bit jaded and the owner noted that a refurbishment was in the pipe-line. The shower was useless but the bath was fine, which the owner had pointed out - it is an old building after all. We... More

We stumbled upon this place after a recommendation. Food and service was exemplary, with the food great value for money. The home made pies are a must. Great cosy atmosphere with log fire. Definitely a recommendation for ford and drinks. Location is great just off the high street.

We stayed for two nights and had a fabulous time. We stayed in the Superior room which was a good size with a fabulous bed. The shower in the bathroom had pressure problems but it is going to be revamped. There was a slight hiccup with the cleaning of the room but it was soon rectified. We ate there for... More

From the first minute walking into the Royal Oak we were made to feel welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and a good choice on the menu. The service was first class. The bar area was very welcoming from the local customers. The room was comfortable, clean with plenty of space. The bathroom was... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in the Superior double room and it was great. Our hosts were really welcoming and couldn't do enough for us, considering they have only been there 3 months, the atmosphere was really good and the pub always busy with locals. The food was outstanding, their speciality is pies and they certainly didn't disappoint, my... More

Booked for a weekend away and were not disappointed. A friendly and warm welcome from John and Jeanette made for a good start. Our room was the standard double, which was more spacious than expected, clean, tidy and well equipped. The 2 rooms have their own entrance, so can be accessed without going through the pub. My partner and I stayed here for his birthday recently. We stayed in the Double Superior which was well worth the money. The room has its own access so you don't need to go through the pub if your late back. Very relaxing and quiet location set off the main Burford High Street. We had dinner in the bar the... More

Wow what a find! Reasonable prices and fantastic food! My husband had the steak, cooked to perfection and tender, whilst I went for the homemade burger, which is one of the best I have ever had from a pub. Owners are very welcoming and make you feel right at home. Will definitely be back.

Took a chance and decided to stay for a night. So glad we did, we were not disappointed. A very clean, tidy room was allocated and the fresh air was fantastic. The place was so quiet that it made the dawn chorus deafening.. We had an evening meal and again we were not disappointed. The beer was excellent, kept well... More

Booked in for Sunday lunch and were advised a table would be available at 1.30. Arrived earlier so had a drink in the garden and then were shown to a very small table right next door to the kitchen door which was not very nice having seen plenty of empty much nicer tables available in the pub. Food was very... More
