Came across this pub and wanted a sandwich and drink. Saturday Bank holiday lunchtime and they appeared to have some sort of musical event on. We were told that that didn't do sandwiches on a Saturday lunchtime. Main courses were in excess of £15 and we settled for a starter which consisted of a small quantity of sardine pate ,... More

I am the organiser of the Music weekend and have just read your comments. I'm sorry to hear you felt unwelcome at The Fox Inn. Although I don't work at the pub and I only organise the music on the festival weekend I have been coming to the Fox on my travels through Europe and UK for 15 years and... More

My wife and 20 year old daughter and I stayed in two rooms in late July/August for 2 nights. The bar was perfect with friendly locals including a pilot, a horse trainer and a group of siblings from the near by village. I can say I've never been so relaxed for ages and the local scenery was great. The food... More

I visited the Fox around 6 years ago and remember it being a beautiful place with a great atmosphere and outdoor seating area by the riverside. Sadly this wasn't the same place I visited yesterday. I decided to take my girlfriend for a Sunday drive and stopped off for a bite to eat. We were greeted by no-one, despite the... More

We stayed here for a local wedding and thought the location was beautiful, the rooms were lovely but I really do think it was overpriced. Breakfast was delicious, a full English which I couldn't fault and sitting out by the little stream in the sunshine was perfect. Sadly however from the moment we arrived we felt as if we were... We were in the area, sort of lost, and in need of sustenance when we happened upon the Fox Inn. The food was not only excellent, but came speedily and was well cooked. We can especially recommend the Whitebait with Chili Mayo.

Stayed for a couple of nights in July and overall a good experience but could be better with a bit of tweaking! Greeting was warm and friendly and the pub and setting was charming. Room was above the kitchen and very very hot, a ceiling fan would have been perfect. Not a lot of storage space but OK for a... More

I've known the Fox Inn for many years, having regularly visited when I ran a small company up the road in Rissington on the old air base. That was at least 5 years ago now. My wife and I visited again a few months ago on her birthday and we had a lovely lunch. A couple of weeks ago we... More

Well, really charming setting. Next to river. God choice of drink and Ales but the food! I actually ordered a Cheese Ploughmans. What I got was a triangle of cheddar, some limp salad on the side a little dressing/pickle stuff. Oysters, well they advertise them many times there and state quite clearly you can order immediately. But its not that... More

Everything said about the surroundings and character and charm of this pub is completely true and unexaggerated and the menu sounds interesting and is crammed with references to locally produced ingredients . There also appears to be a steady stream of willing customers to its doors. Perhaps that is why the management is prepared to watch good paying customers walk... More

We stopped here for Sunday lunch and were not dissapointed. Great local food and great traditional cloudy cider.. Loved it and will certainly be back to visit, probably for a evening meal. Would highly reccommend to anyone looking for a food, drink by the river.
