My husband had secretly booked this as a treat for my birthday. When he told me, we looked on trip advisor at some of the reviews and to be honest I was a bit concerned. Having now stayed there, I am wondering whether some of the negative reviews actually went to the same place. Its lovely. We arrived Saturday, checked... More

Looking at the Fox Inn website I can't help wondering when it was written. The landlord said he had been there for 20 years & I would guess that was when the "re-furbishment" of the bar was done. I sat in the bay window & the windowseat cushion was threadbare & dirty. I went to the loo when I arrived... More

This is by far the best Sunday lunch we have had in a long time beats any found in Oxfordshire! The Fox Inn from the outside looked a bit dark uninviting part of the wall leading down the road was falling away we were not sure what to expect inside the pub was warm and inviting we went to the... Thank you very much for taking the time to review your visit to us. We are very lucky to be in such a fabulous part of the English countryside with the River WIndrush running through our Garden with its spectacular seasonal changes. Having 2 carparks makes it a breeze to visit us even on the busiest sunny days in the... More

We went there after a walk on a wet miserable cold Sunday morning. I am sure we were influenced by the welcoming wood burner at the end of the room, but I think this is as good as English pubs get. Welcoming landlord, good food, lovely beer and nice atmosphere. What more could you want? I paricularly recommend the ham,... More

We had a 2 day break between Christmas and New Year. The location is excellent for walking and "get away form it all". The room was excellent and well (looked recent) appointed. Although my wife had her own, she did comment that a hairdryer would be a good addition. Overall the food was adequate and a little basic in presentation.It... More

Spent a night at the fox inn this weekend. Great pub but a couple of things would really have improved the experience. Our room was pleasant to look at but the mattress was very uncomfortable and with addition of a mattress topper would have been much improved. I would also really have liked some better pillows. Not expensive but they... More

Called in for lunch twice in one week, expensive, and you need to check their adding up! Locals got the fire end, rest of us had the cold end of the bar area. Food was good, and beer was also good. Car park was more suited to 4WD vehicles rather than cars as it was very wet and muddy.

This is a lovely pub in a fantastic setting on the River Windrush, sandwiched between Great and Little Barrington. It has a lovely conservatory restaurant to the rear where we ate breakfast. Dinner was had the evening before in the pub. For the price of both I would have expected larger portions, they were decidedly on the small size. The... More

Lovely location just off the A40 , stayed on business for 1 night , room with en suite shower was clean, bright and nicely presented. However the rest of the premises are looking decidedly tired and uncared for - could be so much better .The food on offer ( Breakfast & Evening Meal) however is markedly overpriced and can only... I only stayed for two nights on business and didn't have time to use the bar or restaurant so the review is really just on the room. The room is very comfortable as was the bed and the bathroom was clean and well equipped with a large shower cubicle. My room was just above the bar so there was some... More
