As a mixed party, visiting the Cotswolds for the first time, we wanted a central location and a hotel that offered good food and a place to relax. The village of Burford was the real star and proved to be an excellent place to explore the area from. The hotel had an interesting history which the owner took pleasure in... More

First of all I loved staying at this hotel. Yes, its floors are uneven and the floorboards squeak; Yes, the corridors are all wonky and the walls uneven and the ceiling height goes up and down; Yes, the modern facilities might not fit seamlessly into the ancient structure, but that is what makes it so enjoyable. I stayed for 3... More

Dropped in for lunch without booking on Bank Holiday Saturday. Was offered a table outside or in the bar area, too cold outside and the bar area is like a dungeon so did a recky and found a table at the front of the hotel. My wife chose fish & chips and I had the gourmet burger. Never eaten here... More

Stopped in on spec for supper on the way back from Wales. The food was well cooked, with good ingredients and well presented. We ate in the bar, which is very cosy and agreeable, and the staff were friendly and efficient.

We stayed one night at the Bull in Burford very recently during a three-day trip to the Cotswolds. We booked a room there by telephone, on the afternoon of the day of our arrival. I was told that there were two room rates; a B&B rate of £120 and a half-board rate of £170 that included bed, breakfast & dinner.... More

I stayed at the Bull for two nights and found the experience a pleasant one. The room was small (described as a small double) but clean and comfortable. I was staying on business and the WiFi was excellent. Bar and restaurant good with friendly staff but food rather over priced. Just a tip, do not use the car park. Only... More

We stayed for 2 nights for a friend's wedding in Oxford. Whilst the hotel isn't as impressive as the nearby hotel where the reception was held, this hotel is ideally located in the middle of the village and retains its historic features (you'll need your sea legs as the floors and ceilings slope), harking back to Admiral Nelson's stay. Our... More

Had several meals here and would go back again and again, the food is great, freshly made in-house bread, all locally sourced food, clean and tidy, lots of original character, very nice place to visit.

Hotel with history, sloping ceilings, beams, squeaky floors. Hearty full English breakfast. But . . . the bed I had in room 5 was truly awful. Soft as a slab of blancmange. Mr Manager: fix this and I'll give you five stars.
