We stayed one night at the weekend as a birthday surprise and, boy, was it a treat. Asthall is a beautiful little hamlet with Mitford connections, so the river-side walk taking in Swinford (lovely pub, great beer - I might get round to doing a separate review of that too) with its amazing church (Mitford graves, astonishing 16th-17th century memorials... This is a rather belated review having visited on Boxing Day. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel extremely welcome and enjoyed a nice chat with some of the staff at the bar before we sat down. Our food was delicious and board games meant it was hard to tear ourselves away. The small garden looked... More

We stayed for a night but would have loved to have been able to stay another. The bar has great collection of Gins and nice craft beers. Rooms are tight but finished to a very high standard and ensuite was lovely. Helpful staff who joined us for a drink later on Sat night when they finished. Would highly recommend

We visited mid week in November. Originally a coaching inn, it has such wonderful character. We chose a fantastic room, the Hunting Room, which has a large bathroom with double shower and a freestanding bath, perfect after a long muddy circular walk to Burford. The room is on ground level and accessed via the courtyard. The bar and restaurant was... More

My boyfriend and I came here for an escape to the country and it was lovely. A quaint, picturesque cottage in the middle of of the countryside. The inn has so much character and this really shines through in the bar area where it is decorated with oldy worldly trinkets such as wooden beer barrels and poetic quotes on chalk... More

We meet for a Family meal, Staff pleasant, but at the table, glasses dirty, as was the cutlery. No serviettes, food missing from the menu. Not the best to say! I could go on but just to say we won't be going there again.

My girlfriend surprised me with a weekend a break to the Maytime Inn, and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were looked after so well by the team, had delicious food and drink and stayed in the most fantastic room (The Hunting Room). We combined it with a trip to Burford, which was great. We... More

What a fabulous Inn. Absolutely lovely staff where nothing was a problem. The food was exceptional. We stayed for three nights and ate in the resturant all the time. Great coffee and breakfast. They have a wonderful range of gins to try and their knowledge is great. Super quiet and relaxed atmosphere could happily stay on.

We stayed for three nights last month and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The staff were excellent; everyone were friendly and helpful. We ate in a couple of nights and the food was very good. Breakfasts are great too! The rooms are very comfortable and well designed with good attention to detail. If we are in this part of the UK... More
