Had booked an overnight stay at Burford House during August which had been confirmed before departure. Unfortunately whilst on route to the hotel, we were informed there had been a double booking, consequently we lost the room. Management were helpful and apologetic and promised to forward a letter of apology including a discounted rate on a future stay. However, disappointed... More

Although the location is excellent the standard of cleanliness is poor. Our room was grubby to say the least; the skirting boards were dirty, the china in the room was unclean there were stains on the tea bags/tray & there were a few old biscuits in a grubby glass container. There was dust over some books that were in the... More

We stayed one night here on the way to a wedding. Fortunately having looked at the reviews we had a room in the rear courtyard, which was very quiet. The owner greeted us and was pleasant and helpful. My overall impression of the hotel is that it could do with a little TLC. However it did give value for money and... More

This hotel has what so few have in my view these days - character and a personality! Olde world charm and plenty of it. Also immaculate, well appointed rooms, excellent & friendly service, lovely breakfast with a good choice. Lots of little touches that suggest to me the owners (unlike many hotels these days) actually like people and want them... More

We were lucky enough to be given a voucher for Afternoon tea and booked a reservation for Sunday afternoon, the weather was unseasonally cold but the welcome at the hotel was very warm. We were made to feel very welcome and we decided to have tea in the room overlooking the garden which was very pleasant. Well I can only... More

We have just had a super weekend at this lovely hotel to celebrate my Mum's 80th birthday. The hotel was perfectly sized to suit the number of family members so we had exclusive use of the hotel. We were thoroughly spoilt by the charming rooms, attentive staff, absolutely delicious food and lovely ambience of the whole hotel. Particular thanks must... More

What a beautiful and charming hotel. It is the perfect weekend get away in the autumn or winter time. We simply stayed there and had all our meals there and we really enjoyed the food and indeed the service. The town is also a delightful place to browse the local shops and just relax. Go!!!!

Stayed in the family room that had the four poster bed and the snug twin room. Very comfortable and really liked the luxy details like the fluffy towels and penhaligon bath products. Quality tea, coffee, water and home made cookies in the room made a lovely touch. A few repairs were needed to some of the window latches and walls... More

I stayed here for one night in a large room at the top of some very narrow stairs. It was beautifully atmospheric and tastefully decorated. The bathroom was huge and the centrepiece was a large claw bath. Plenty of nice bathroom products too. Good wifi in rooms. The sitting areas downstairs are equally charming and are peaceful places to read... More

We stayed this weekend for a wedding locally in Clanfield. Very good service, very helpful and nothing too much bother. The Sherbourne is a great room with super views of the High Street and the free standing bath a real treat. Piping hot water and plenty of it. The quicker the ban on lorries through the street the better! Enjoyed... More
