Visited today for Sunday lunch, I haven't been to the "twicey" since the '90s so was pleasantly surprised on first impression it had been totally done out! We had booked a table so we pointed in the direction of our table which was in the corner next to a wood burner. Nice I thought, until I had sat for a... More

Dear Northumbrian_lass130, Thank you for visiting The Twice Brewed and for taking the time to give us your thoughts. We have taken all your comments on board and shall look into the portion sizes and variety of vegetables straight away; the seating as it's new will have to remain for a bit but is definitely something we shall address in... I had enjoyed going to the Twice Brewed Inn for many years. It was full of character and welcoming to walkers. I went recently only to find it had been refitted to look like a hotel lounge (complete with tacky bar and ceiling spot-lights). We ordered a few Sunday roasts that took forever to arrive and, when they did, two... More

Dear Supernovanucleo, We are so sorry to hear of your bad experience at The Twice Brewed; we strive to provide great customer service as well as quality food but it seems in this instance we failed and we sincerely apologise for this. With regards to the refurbishment, agreed it is a massive change but we felt the pub could do... More

We did the wall east to west and misjudged how long our 3rd day was (we thought 12 miles, it was 17, oops). Anyhow, right when I thought I couldn't convince my feet to go any further, Twice Brewed could be seen off in the distance. All I wanted was roast and prosecco, and they had it (it was Sunday).... We called in here whilst walking Hadrians wall and we're delighted that dogs were allowed. The bar had just been refurbished but didn't look like a country pub but more like a city centre wine bar, when we were sitting a guy went behind the bar and put up a large piece of wood using Hilti nail gun which frightened... Dear Michael B, Thank you for your review of The Twice Brewed and we are glad you and your dogs enjoyed the visit. Regarding the nail gun incident though; we are almost finished on the refurbishment so should you come again, we can assure you this won't happen again - a mistimed "job on the list" I suspect, for which... I always enjoyed visiting this country pup after a day out walking around Hadrians Wall, it was a nice traditional place for a pint full of character and interesting pits and pieces - Including a world map highlighting where it's visitors were from. I visited with my Brothet- in-law and my son to find that the place had been done... More

Dear Nigel T, We are sorry you are not in favour of the refurbishment; it is always tricky to please everyone but we felt the pub could do with some updating. We do as you say though, still serve a good pint and you'll be please (I hope!) to know the map has been reinstated due to popular demand. Hopefully... More

The en-suite twin room was adequate. Restaurant meal at night was very good. We were the only guests for breakfast, which was a shambles: coffee arrived with no milk or sugar, breakfast arrived with no sauces or toast, toast arrived (halfway thru breakfast) with no butter or marmalade. Requests for all of the above had to be made, which was... More

This is a lovely old Inn with a lot of character. We only stopped in for a quick drink but the food menu looked very interesting. The Inn does have accommodation which sounds good value but we did not stay on this occasion but are thinking of returning.

We visited here the other day, after a walk and feeling hungry.. We had steak sandwiches and chips on the side..... The sandwiches were shocking ( we left most of them).. The meat was so hard we couldn't cut it let alone chew it, so we left hungry. To top it all it was overpriced. Needless to say we will... More

Stayed for 1 x night while travelling through Northumberland on a solo motorbike trip. I didn't expect much for my £37 which I paid for a single room for 1 night and I wasn't disappointed. The staff who serve the bar / take food orders / wait tables in the restaurant also take care of check-in and as they're obviously... More
