Really nice B&B. We were looked after splendidly by Margaret', great food and plenty of it, which was obviously welcomed by four hungry and thirsty walkers. Margaret even picked us up from the end of our day's walk and dropped us off at our start point the next morning ( weighed down by a hearty breakfast ). Lovely location and... more

Hallbarns Farm was the perfect base for our walking holiday along Hadrian’s Wall. The house and surroundings are beautiful, with the astounding hamlet of Simonburn just around the corner. The room was large and very clean, with a modern, state-of-the-art bathroom with plenty of hot water and good pressure. I was also pleased to see that the wireless internet connection... more

From Martin & Denise (stayed 11th June 2009) There is not one negative comment to make about Hallbarns. We had the most wonderful 3 night stay in a spotless, extremely comfortable room with a beautiful view into the fields next door. Margaret provided the very best hospitality and a very satisfying and tasty breakfast. The lounge area is really comfortable... more

We felt completely at home at this charming, roomy and spotlessly clean house which is run by the genuine and most friendly host Margaret. Sat each morning eating a hearty breakfast whilst watching woodpeckers and their young on the birdfeeders. You can find locally or within a short distance lots of pleasant walks, historic churches, villages, with Roman and Medieval remains. There... more

We really enjoyed our stay at this beautifully located B&B. On arrival Margaret made us a super pot of tea, well needed after 20 miles walking! As there are not many pubs/restaurants within walking distance, Margaret offers a fantastic home cooked evening meal for £15 (3 courses). We felt very well looked after here and hope to return some day. more

Lovely B&B located in hexham on a working farm, it was so peaceful and was the best nights sleep in a long time, There is so much to do and see, there wasn't enough time to fit it all in, so hoping to head back there later this summer. Margaret was so helpful on advising us on the best places... more

Margaret provides very clean and comfortable accommodation and the breakfasts and packed lunches were just right. Nothing is too much trouble for her and she will help you out if she can. She was prepared to take us out to the start of our days walking. Although on a working farm the location was very peaceful. We will go and... more

This lovely old farmhouse was a welcome sight at the end of a hard day walking Hadrian's Wall. My friends and I were the only guests at the B&B and we had a cosy lounge with a warm open fire all to ourselves. Mrs Locke welcomed us with hot drinks and biscuits. The rooms were spacious and well decorated. My... more

Pre-booked for me by the Berwick TIC for the night at the end of my walk of the St.Oswald's Way. When I was badly let down by my pre-booked hotel at Kirkwhelpington the previous night, the proprietor of Hallbarns took me in for the extra night, and was prepared to arrange the necessary transport from and to the start of... more
