We stayed here for one night whilst we visited Kielder Water. The pub is very well located and our room was very pleasant, clean & nicely decorated. The service throughout our visit was very good. However, we found the food disappointing - what I would describe as old fashioned and lacking flavour. The breakfast however was excellent. more

We have just returned from a short break in Northumberland and were lucky to reserve the last available room at the Pheasant Inn for our first night. There are only 8 letting rooms all ensuite contained in a building adjoining the inn. Ours was a twin bedded room which was very tastefully decorated and furnished with views out over the... more

A group of us stayed here for a christmas get together, the Inn itself was lovely with a good selection of beer, wine and whisky, also the food was excellent - not a massed produced turkey dinner in sight. The meat was all locally sourced and very tasty. Also the Inn is in a lovely location and not far from... more

Our two day stay was fine in terms of cleanliness and friendliness of staff (especially waiting staff) but, in terms of meeting the exacting standards for the award of five stars, the Pheasant Inn fell short. On the plus side, it was a refreshing delight to find a breakfast which was devoid of baked beans, hash browns and fried bread... more

All I can do is to echo what has been said before. We were lucky enough to get a late cancellation and added a one night stay at the Pheasant to the end of our holiday. An amazing location, lovely people, a really good mattress on the bed, 35 different whiskeys and the best lamb I've ever eaten. The perfect... more

Our fourth time and we've booked for New Year. If that isn't a good recommendation then let me give you an insight in to one of the "Jewels in the crown of Kielder" when it comes to traditional ales and superb food. Quaint, quiet and very homely with a good Olde English style pub atmosphere is the best way to... more

Everything about the Pheasant Inn is splendid. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. The pub has all you'd want of a traditional inn...great beer , fine malt whiskys and the wine we had was the house selected which was excellent. An open fire, beams ,interesting artifacts and old photos of the inn. The food was heavenly. As mentioned in other reviews... more

I carefully read the only other review on Trip Advisor, and thought that I could read between the lines and see that it was worth a chance after all. The website has some rave reviews and it is featured in a guide book of special places to stay. Sorry to say I was wrong. Based on the cost, of £85... more

My wife and I stayed here overnight to break our journey back from Scotland at the end of our holidays, and it proved to be a great choice of venue. The room was comfortable and very clean, and had all the usual facilities. The lounge bar was very cosy and we had a lovely meal. In fact, the starter and... more

Not your average pub lodging. Most of the rooms are in a purpose-built two-storey block to the side of the pub, so there's no noise from drinkers (not that it's a big drinkers' pub in any case). Our room was not huge but made good use of the space available; the décor was spotless and the carpet looked new. The... more
